"Steve Parker of Duramax responded quickly to our concerns about a roof leak, arriving at our house only two hours after I called him. He made necessary repairs around a fireplace vent in less than an hour. A company I contacted earlier had sent a representative who didn't even go up on the roof but asked me to call him Friday after the next time it rained. After seeing the photos Steve took, I'm sure the roof would have leaked again had I waited. Steve was courteous and professional, and understanding about our concerns. I would hire him again in an instant and recommend him to friends."

"I am highly pleased with the new roof (Owens Corning Duration) and the work Moss Roofing performed. More than one layer of shingles were present when I purchased the house, and roof leaks developed in two rooms on opposite sides of the house. One of these areas had a low slope (2/12), and Benny suggested an alternate rubber material used on flat roofs for this portion of the roof. He also built a diversion in this area to channel water away from a corner where water would get trapped against the wall. I can't notice the difference from the ground, and it has improved my peace of mind to know this area is now draining properly for the first time ever, ice accumulation will not be an issue, and I won't have to fix the closet ceiling more than once! Benny also replaced some old deteriorated trim boards and installed insulated hoses in the attic to vent the bathroom fans properly. The whole crew was professional, hard working, and cleaned up after themselves. I originally considered a contractor certified platinum by Owens Corning with a slightly better warranty (on the labor portion only, material warranty is equivalent), however Owens Corning dictates that all materials be made by them for the platinum warranty. Moss Roofing is a preferred Owens Corning contractor, but could work outside the box a little more (e.g. they used Lomanco vents as this company focuses on vents only and out-performs Owens Corning in this area). With the money I saved and the quality of work performed, I am confident I made the right selection."

"Owner Rick Campbell was involved and helpful throughout the whole process. If you have not replaced a roof in the last 10 years, the process has changed significantly with/without insurance companies. Due to possible hail/weather damage, Rick performed an initial inspection with pictures to document to share with my agent. After deciding to file a claim, Rick met with the insurance adjusters for their inspection and subsequent decision to replace. Rick's crew removed and replaced all shingles, repairing some roofing boards as necessary, and replaced all vents and gutters and installed gutter guards. They completed all work and clean up in two days. Rick recommended a price competitive shingle with a better rating and longer history. This shingle also qualified for an insurance discount due to its rating. Working with Rick was a pleasure and his regular presence on site was comforting and appreciated to address issues that come up with a project of this magnitude. Rick's knowledge of the roofing industry, roofing materials, the insurance process, and his experienced installers all helps to insure a quality finished product. I was not looking forward to a roof replacement or the process on my only 13 year old home, but the overall experience was professionally and efficiently completed. They get my highest contractor recommendation! Thank you!"

"I'M VERY GLAD J.P. LAHR CAME FOR THE ESTIMATE!!! IT WAS VERY HELPFUL, AND ALSO INTERESTING. BEING THE LAST OF 5 ROOFING ESTIMATES, THIS IS THE ONLY COMPANY THAT SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE ROOF ITSELF and THAT HE COULD NOT HELP ME. HE RECOMMENDED WE HIRE A CHIMNEY REPAIR PERSON FOR ALL THE WORK, WHICH WE DID. THANK YOU!!!"

"Before the job was sold the sales team headed by Mike Hawkins were very professional, courteous but right after the signed contact job was delayed due to their internal department mixup. I was not communicated of any delay and had to call numerous people to get the response. During the whole process they worked with my insurance company and finished the work on time and the roof looked great. Right after job was completed I noticed my porch gutter leaking at the joint. It was a new leak which I thought would be the result of shingles being thrown while install. After sending video of the leak to the sales, install and customer service I didn’t get any response then finally I complained to their General Manger Grant and he came to inspect the leaking gutter and said the age of the gutter may be the cause of the leak but he will get it caulked. It has been more than a week, email and text message to their General Manager Grant has still not fixed the leaking gutter. Roof replacement was a good job but if there is any problem later on with their work I will not depend on their warranty commitment. I will not recommend them to others for their after sales service commitment."

"It was good. It just took them a couple of reschedules and some communication, but some of it was weather related. It is hard to tell, but they did complete the job and everything was fine. Their initial visit they were quicker. I didn't talk to the guy who actually did the repair."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Greenwood, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
