"Zachary is just an amazing human being and contractor! Alberto and his crew banged out a joist replacement with new joists. They also insulated and drywalled the ceiling of my garage. I couldn't of asked for a better company to work with me and making my issues into pure pleasure! I will use them again for sure. Thanks guys!"

"Moises and his crew did a great job .They were clean, efficient and and knowledgeable when it came time for their input . My Fiancé is very very picky and she could not of been happier with the outcome of both the quality of the work and pricing . A totally awesome experience . In fact we will be having them back later this summer for additional projects"

"I hired All Pro to rescreen a large screened in porch. They did an amazing job. They put up all new screens and reframed the windows so they look like new. Super friendly and nice. Very reasonably priced. I will use them again!"

"After contacting Angie's List, I was sent a email the next day which was a Saturday. The following Monday, Tim called and stated that they could do the job. He asked when I wanted it done, to which I replied, Now, or as soon as possible! His Dad, Bob, came to my home the next couple of days to see what was needed done. He gave me an estimate of the job to be done, I agreed. Tim called me back after the estimate and agreed to come out Monday of the next week. He worked in my home 2 days, job done beautifully. These 2 men have been in their business for many years and know their job well. Not only are they accomplished in painting and patching, they are professional in what they do and they are kind and respectful while doing it. Thank your so very much."

"Recommended by US Waterproofing. We had water in our family room after storms. Determined it came from behind brick from chimney. He tuck pointed, put on new chimney cap, caulk, repair flashing & shingles. Repaired cement chimney base. Saw other cracks and took care of those. Spent nearly 10 hours here. Quite knowledgeable."

FAQs for wood stairs and railings repair projects in Griffith, IN

Hiring a pro to refinish wooden stairs means labor makes up 20% to 30% of your total budget. That price covers sanding, staining, and sealing each step. In most cases, a certified refinisher can tackle a 10-step staircase in about two hours, then apply stain and sealant for a durable, eye-catching finish that stands up to daily traffic.

A pro can sand a standard 10-step staircase in roughly two hours, then needs another four to six hours for each coat of stain and sealant to dry. DIYers should budget up to a week for sanding, staining, and sealing in stages. With a crew on site, the bulk of the work is completed in a single day, minimizing disruptions while still achieving a high-quality finish.

It’s possible to refinish stairs without full-scale sanding by using chemical strippers, power buffers, or simply layering a fresh finish over the existing coat. Chemical strippers break down old stains and sealants, while buffers quickly shave off surface material. Even so, a quick hand-sand with fine-grit paper helps the new finish bond properly and look smooth. As always, suit up in protective gear and follow product directions to keep your wood—and yourself—safe.

For most stair projects, you’ll want two sandpaper grits. Begin with 80- to 120-grit to strip the old finish and even out rough spots, then move to 150- to 220-grit for a smooth, ready-for-stain surface. A power sander speeds up the coarse pass, but switches to hand sanding with the fine grit in corners and along edges to keep abrasion even and give stain or sealer something to grab onto.
