"I chose this guy because the estimate was the lowest which normally they say “if you pay peanuts you get monkeys “ . This guy climbed like one but did an excellent job and for much lower than other estimates .Could not have been more pleased. !"

"Kingsgard was great... they were very polite and easy to work with. We had 3 ash trees that needed removed... they gave a reasonable quote and had them removed in just a couple of weeks. They'll be the first I call for any sort of tree care in the future."

"Trey and Jayson were very professional with good communication before, during, and after the job. During the job we agreed on hauling in more top soil, and they were very accommodating and honest about the added cost. Their services were competitive and fair as well. We would definitely hire them again."

"Mr. Richard took down some small trees, a large tree and a huge tree. These trees were challenging and very close to the house. His crew took them down systematically and carefully, without doing any harm. They removed everything they cut. I paid him before the job was completed and he still came back and finished the work."

"Excellent! Jake was here in a timely manner to look at tree and give a quote for removal. He did exactly what he said he would do. Tree was a huge pin oak which he took down safely, ground out stump and filled in with dirt. Left my yard free of any debris as they raked the yard of sticks, leaves etc. They are polite, dependable, honest, hard working guys who do what they say and are careful of your property. They show up when they say they will and go right to work. Their quote was more than fair, with no hidden fees. Will have them back in fall to trim a tree."

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Hiawatha, IA

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
