"I chose CJS roofing for replacing the roof on my home because of their ratings/reviews with the BBB, angie's list , etc. AND because they are a locally owned family run business. After talking directly with the owners, Chris and Denise Seilfiesch, I felt very comfortable selecting them. I am an engineer and very particular about quality, especially when it comes to major repairs on my home. Denise was extremely helpful in working with my insurance company in order to get me the best claim payout possible. Chris and his son Ryan made several trips to my home to make sure all the tech details were correct and the workmanship was top notch. I'm very happy with this small business and recommend them to friends and neighbors needing exterior roof work."

"Bone Dry started the job early on Monday morning and was done by mid-day on Tuesday. All the old shingles were removed on both structures. Then the crew installed new shingles, roof vents, counter flashing for both chimneys on the house, and new shingles on the garage. After the job was finished they did a very thorough cleanup of the ground around the house. I am happy we chose Bone Dry again to do this project. The new roofs look great and I am sure the buyer will be pleased."

"My home is one of the very old homes in St. Louis. When I had our roof redone there were 'surprises' that took extra effort and extra cost to correct. Chris was the fellow who walked us through all of it and I watched how carefully he proceeded. How calm and understanding he was and, due to impending rain, I saw that he personally (with one or two others) hustled in on a Saturday or Sunday morning to cover some exposed areas. Always attentive. Because of this I rehired for rental and again his folks worked above and beyond. I placed 4 rather than 5 for quality and for me that only is there to account for the fact that all was not perfect. What roof job would be? I suppose for brand new homes maybe. There was a 'quality' problem with rental that I brought up to Chris. He reviewed. Agreed. We both understood what had happened and why. (I must write here that this was my error, I did not get some tuck-pointing done that he had said should be taken care of before roofing). He corrected, at no cost, and again did so on a weekend. So that he could complete my job to satisfaction and remain on schedule with newer jobs. I will hire again. He's a good guy."

"Top Roof did an excellent job of replacing our roof on our home. The owner, Tony Geiser, Followed his crew throughout the job and the roof was completed in a timely manner. And the cost was lower than our other two bids for the best roofing materials in our budget. We recommend Top Roof as a quality, family run roofing company. My husband and I believe in giving our business to the independent men and women striving to succeed in a time of big business."

"My wife and I were greatly impressed with the sevices provided. Dustin was the assigned project manager. He was with us from the beginning to the end. He responded to any questions or concerns promptly. He provided the estimate for the work performed and suggested areas of concern that would require eventual repair. He inspected the roof and provided pictures of the roof to explain what needed to be addressed. The work crew went right to work on the date that Dustin stated they would. They were very profesional and worked hard throughout the day. Upon completion of the job, the crew cleaned up the entire yard and returned patio furniture back to their original positions. The day after the installation, a company representative returned with a rolling magnet to retrieve any roofing nails that might have been missed during the prior day. He again policed the area for any other roofing materials."

"I am going to get solar so I had my roof inspected first. Jim with Allen roofing came out and really took the time to check it thoroughly. Thankfully all was good except one ridge cap shingle that they can fix for me after my solar install. Jim was easy to work with and very professional."

"I purchased a "Roof Tune-Up" package on Sunday morning from Angie's List website. I left a message on Monday, Memorial's Day and while I knew they were closed for the holiday I did this for my sake because I will forget. I was shocked to receive a call on Tuesday morning from John. He was very professional and addressed the matter very promptly. He checked his schedule and upon completion of other projects he was able to come the same day of his initial call. He was very thorough in his inspection of the roof, internal inspection and he successfully identified the problem. He resealed and reinforced the affected area of the roof were water was entering the home. He also fastened our gutters and cleaned out and around the downspout of the front and back gutters. He provided before and after pictures which showed a very noticeable improvement. He gave recommendations that seemed reasonable and appropriate for the condition of the gutters and roof. I am extremely pleased! He did a great job and I will seek out Andres roofing for any additional matters regarding our roofing or gutter needs."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in High Ridge, MO

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
