"Ace was fairly quick to come out for the estimate. Prices were reasonable. Josh told me up front that it would take approximately four weeks to come out, which was fine. They came out the first time as scheduled, however they only trimmed 50% of the trees on the estimate. I waited two weeks and called back when no one contacted me or showed back up. This lead to ~4 more weeks of back and forth through at least five phone calls to finally receive confirmation that the crew would come out to finish, as apparently that day they had been pulled away for another job. In the interim Mike came out to grind the stumps. Was very nice and noted that the company was experiencing growing pains which lead to the delay. When the crew finally came out, they crashed their truck through into the side of the house knocking the garage door a few inches into the garage and damaging the brick and garage door frame. This lead to two visits by their contractor aka Josh's best friend to fix the damage. So, finally after nearly four months from the original estimate and multiple days of having to work from home to accommodate repairs, my trees are trimmed and my garage door is somewhat back to normal. Josh refused to offer any discount off of the estimate despite my headaches, so although the crew was friendly and seemed to do a good job on the trees, the liability and hassle will force me to look elsewhere moving forward, as tree trimmers are a dime a dozen in Birmingham. I'd suggest others do the same."

"The people at Vulcan are nice and are very skilled to make sure that they know how to get the job done. I like that when they are finished they bring me a report of what they did or did not find in the house. They also explain all my options without trying to sell me other things I don't need."

"During a previous engagement, Matt had his landscaper draw up plans to improve the backyard and add some landscaping. The initial plan for the landscaping looked nice, although it was also extremely expensive. With my feedback, they modified the the plans and started work. The work was scheduled ~3-4 weeks from signing the contract (reasonable considering the season and weather). Initially they came out to modify the existing irrigation system to support the new beds. They then started on the new beds (removing the sod, adding soil conditioner, and finishing with mulch and the selected plants. They then started digging the hole for the pond, and beginning initial layout of it.  Lawn installation took a couple of days. After the pond was installed, they tested all of the irrigation heads and filled in the pond (they tied it into the irrigation system). Finally they removed the existing sod and resodded the backyard. <br /> At the end of each day, Matt's crew cleaned up after themselves (except for the first day they were working on the beds proper, when they left a couple of empty soda cans). They were careful to minimize their use of the driveway (i.e. for mulch / soil / rock dumps), and made sure the garage was still accessible even when they were working / having supplies delivered. The crew was friendly, and made sure to clean up at the end of each day."

"Product sprayed on in the afternoon.  Technician recommended we cut the grass after 48 hours, which we did.   A thunderstorm occured that night, but within 14 days all the weeds had died!  Today, 4/5/2012, there are still very few signs of weeds, and our lawn is a beautiful green color."

"Terry arrived on time and was very easy to talk to.  I let him know that I actually wanted him to inspect all the window frames and door frames and then advise me on whether repair or replacement would be better in each case. <br /> He checked out every door and window frame for damage, and showed me how he could tell that a small area of water staining that I feared was wood rot was actually in good condition.  The caulking had cracked along the bottom of the patio door frames (door sills) so he added clear silicone caulk where needed. <br /> The good news was that all of the door frames themselves were fine.  Terry advised me that the door that I was certain needed replacing will be far less costly than the work needed to remove/replace the entire frame+door. <br /> The bad news: he confirmed our suspicion that the old wood windows do need to go.  Terry didn't try to sell me windows; he simply said that yes, his company does window replacements.  They do lots of other types of work too, and so he wound up "selling" me on the company by NOT SELLING, just looking around at every other project I've been considering.  He mentioned that bathroom remodels were a specialty of one of the company owners.  So for me, that project just moved way up the list. <br /> Then he fixed two nuisance items: replaced our front storm door handle, and tightened bolts on our fence gate.  Terry's a great ambassador for his company because he's not pushy, and comes across as honest.  Plus, he's a dog person, so major points for that.  :-) <br /> <br />"

"Lawn Rangers mowed and took care of our lawn all last summer. He is always very professional gets the job done quickly.  He is also very honest and a good person. He does a really great job. We recently had him come and treat our lawn for weeds too. We have rental properties and Lawn Rangers will be taking care of  all of them this year. He gave us a very reasonable price to take care of all seven of our lots. We are very pleased with his service."
