"Hired Brad to do a small kitchen renovation, including a new sink, dishwasher, cabinet, and backsplash. He worked diligently and did a great job, meeting our short schedule at a reasonable price. Everything looks great!"

"The owner Troy had a quick turnaround time on my submittal to home advisor. He was professional on the phone and took a quick description of the issue. Due to a cancellation, he was able to come same day. He was clearly comfortable working on my washer machine with a wealth of knowledge. He explained each step he was taking and why. Troy was able to quote the job required to fix it and was honest enough to recommend replacing the unit rather than paying him to fix it. We were also having issues with our microwave which he inspected and addressed. Overall great experience. Timeliness, professionalism, and in depth knowledge of appliances. Iâ ve already requested he visit another family memberâ s home to health with their appliance issues. Great work."

"Technician came to the house and analyzed the problem. It was determined that the cost of repair was over the allowable Choice Home Warranty limit and it should be replaced. Choice Home Warranty issued their replacement cost. This cost was unacceptable and I challenged their figure. After some negotiation I was offered an increased settlement amount. I still balked at their offer but I was told to take it or repair my old microwave. I finally accepted their amount, even though it is still well below what it will cost me to replace the unit. I might add that the existing microwave has the convection feature and I want to replace with same features. The cost that I will receive also does not include any removal, disposal or installation costs. At this time I am debating whether I will continue with Choice Home Warranty or consider other options."

"The repairman was a great person but unfortunately was just mediocre in his skill set. He did not use any testing equipment, meters or electrical equipment to test the machine to see if my door switch was actually malfunctioning. Instead I believe he was going out to the truck and googling possible solutions to the issue. We both came to the conclusion based on the error code the unit was displaying that replacing the switch would solve the problem. But again it was not tested individually. I replaced the switch the next day but the unit still did not work. I eventually brought a new machine. The next day."

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Hilton Head Island, SC

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
