"This group was the best! 13 trees removed and not a branch left on the ground. I had a tree that was a tricky fall but no problem. Professional and price well also. I had some huge stumps removed with large roots and I was sure they wouldn't get them all. They did. Very happy and would hire them again."

"Juan came out and gave us a great price for two trees. First date for removal was cancelled due to Chicago storms, but Juan professionally prioritized our removal and scheduled us in 2wks after our estimate. Once his crew arrived they did a great job working around power lines and phone lines, despite the narrow lot. His crew took down two trees with no damage to property, The crew was very professional, and maintained their safety at all times. Debris was removed and area was kept clean. We will definitely recommend to others because we had a great experience with Juan and his team. An alternate tree estimator we found on google, came out and painted a difficult picture to have the trees removed because of the narrow lot and no access for their equipment also their quote was much higher approx. over $5,000 with mention of damage to near by trees if they were not dug up and moved, also power lines needing to be dropped. We received a Progressive Tree service business card from our neighbor and gave them a call Juan came out looked at the job, reviewed the space and quoted a great price, said it could be done with lines in place and surrounding trees. They are licensed and insured, and very professional."

"Very professional and removal of the tree was good. I was however disappointed that the estimate did not include stump removal (which I learned after the fact). I now have to hire another company to do that. Other estimates I received included the stump removal so I assumed theirs did as well. My fault as well but why would anyone think that a homeowner would want a large stump sticking a foot out of the ground?"

"Called them for a quote on a tree removal. They came out that morning and provided a reasonable quote. Their team was out later that morning and they got to work. It took a few hours and the tree was taken down, debris and stump removed. The team was very conscientious of my yard, my neighborâ  s yard and our fence. I would recommend them and definitely use their services again."

"I hired Tomax on the basis of recommendations made on Nextdoor and am glad I did. Tom is a real professional who asked me to get him all the drawings for my backyard so that they could remove the tree and stump without harming any water or electrical lines. Tom also had the utility service come out to make all lines. The tree was taken down by Tom and his crew professionally and cleanly, and then the stump was expertly and carefully removed by Joe, who also cleaned up afterwards. Tomax is the best!"

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Hinsdale, IL

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
