"The repair job went WAY better than expected! Ronnie was wonderful! He was straightforward about the work they were doing. They discovered some unexpected areas that really needed addressed. He explained the situation and probably outcomes to me as well as his concerns. Although it ended up. being more money, it was my decision based on what he showed me. Well worth the extra money - my roof and chimney will never leak again. I am grateful for the quality of work that was done on my roof and chimney rebuild. Absolutely would recommend Joyland Roofing to anyone and everyone. Great guys, great price and great quality! Thanks for everything!"

"FIVE STARS FROM BEGINNING TO END!! I needed to have the shingles replaced on the rear portion of my roof. I scheduled 5 different roofers to come out to give me estimates. Jason was not only almost $2,000 cheaper than the others, he also pointed out some things that needed immediate attention on the front portion of my roof that nobody else had mentioned. He contacted me the week before letting me know that we were still on for the originally scheduled date and what to expect as it got closer. On the day of the install, Jason remained onsite while his large crew completed the job. When all was done I had a BEAUTIFUL new roof and my property was spotless!! You would have never believed that they were ever here!! I HIGHLY recommend Evans Quality Roofing and when it comes time to replace the front portion of my roof, I only need to make one call! Thank you Jason for a wonderful experience!!"

"Gunner Roofing recently installed a new roof on my house. They did an excellent job. They were very professional and prompt. Immediately after I selected them for the job, they did not waste any time getting the proper permits. Also, a week before they started my job, my area had a severe wind and rainstorm. Gunner did not waste any time coming over and placing a tarp on my roof so that no further damage could take place. The person who supervised the job was always very pleasant, courteous, and professional whenever I spoke with him. Gunner was also very competitive in their pricing. In addition, towards the end of my job, I realized that I had not included the shed on my property in their original estimate. But this was not a problem. Gunner wasted no time in getting the extra material needed in order to replace the roof on the shed, they were also very clean. They did not leave any debris behind. I highly recommend Gunner Roofing for your roofing needs."

"I called TKO roofing. BJ the owner of the company answered and I explained to him the problem I was having with my roof. It was a botched roofing job by another roofing company. He was able to come over that same day to take a look at the roof. He assessed the problem and told me what would be needed to fix it and the cost to fix it. I agreed to let his company do the repair. I told him there was no time restraint and he said he would have it repaired within two weeks. A week later he called and said that he was here to repair the roof. He was here from 9 till 3:30. I went out to look at the roof and was very pleasantly surprised. The shingles that he used matched up so close to the original ones that were 10 years old that you can't tell that several of the shingles around the chimney had to be replaced. He made sure that everything was cleaned up out of the yard. I want to say that BJ listened to all of my concerns. He was very professional and wanted to do a good job. I was highly satisfied with his work and would recommend him to anyone for any roofing work. I agreed to let him put a sign in my yard for his business. I would not do that if I didn't think he was a reputable and qualified contractor and to let others know that my experience with this company was what I hoped for."

"Where to begin… Attention to detail. Craftsmanship. Knowledge. Quality (an often overused and sadly becoming a meaningless term). Friendliness. Fair. These are just some of the traits of this family owned business. I researched roofers before I selected Shirks. I was impressed with their Angies List ratings, and what was even more impressive to me was the fact I had to wait several months before they could schedule me. Being in demand means, to me at least, that they are busy and probably from word-of-mouth satisfied customers. My project involved replacing an existing 20+ year old roof on a 100+ year old house, and roofing a new porch I built (I’m an avid DIY’er). I originally planned to use steel roofing on the porch and when I resided my house, planned for this with the way I ran my flashing. They were able to work with, around, and replace what I did without issue, even though they were probably wondering “what the heck did this guy do?”. The roofer 20+ years ago replaced a slate roof with 5/8” plywood and 3-tab. My roof is 12/12 pitch with a dormer that’s probably 24/12 or steeper, and pretty much covers 1 1/3 stories in height (it’s steep!). There’s a walk-out basement out back, making the roof 3 stories up out back, and the land slopes down to a brook giving you the impression you’re WAY up there! The original roofer and his crew were scared to be up there - it IS high, and his crew quit one by one on him because they hated being up there. These guys didn’t show any fear of heights. They found where the original crew didn’t butt or edge the 5/8 plywood correctly, and fixed all of that, including what had become a nuisance leak in a dormer valley (where the plywood didn’t meet, and the gap was bridged with one thin piece of tar paper and one shingle layer). They also fixed the edges of the rakes of the original plywood before installing the drip edge to even them out. The week after they completed the roof, we received the heavy downpours and wind, and the inside of the house remained bone dry, and believe me, I was checking! My crew was the five Shirk brothers and two others. All of them worked well together without any of the squabbles my own brother and I would have had! Oh - I grew up with a working-class father who treated contractors as people, and I firmly believe in treating all people as I would want to be treated. I opened my bathroom to them to use whenever they needed it, and none of them made me regret this decision. They were appreciative of this hospitality and voiced their appreciation numerous times. Did I mention in the beginning they were friendly? I would recommend these guys anytime, anywhere and have a stack of their cards to hand out to anyone in my area that needs roofing work done (my own detached garage is pending for April). If anyone wants more information on what these guys did for me, please drop me an email at misc@mailme.us."

"Looking For A Top-Notch Contractor To Enhance Your Home? My wife and I recently contracted: Dreamworx Exteriors / Roofing 11 East Front Street #100 Shiremanstown , PA 17011 (717) 502 -4214 DreamworxRoofs.com DreamworxExteriors.com to completely remove & replace all roofing shingles, flashing, gutters, downspouts, etc. Why? While researching contractors, we discovered this company has numerous outstanding reviews and no negative reviews to be found. Their representative met with us at our home from the very beginning and on numerous occasions to discuss the details and pick the materials prior to starting the job. He worked closely with our insurance company which made the entire process very easy all-around! Kept us informed throughout! The day of work, the roofing team showed up on time, were strictly professional, all business and attentive to all of our customer needs and requests! They were very careful of outdoor lighting, plants, trees etc - which we very much appreciated! Of course, in the process of shingle removal (which btw, tarped around the entire house), their team discovered numerous underlying problems such as some active leaks, rotting wood, and then addressed each of these issues with permanent fixes - along with performing many other preventative maintenance extras throughout the job that other contractors would normally ignore - to cut corners and costs! Cleanup - can’t say enough about this company! Usually when you have a contractor perform any task, the homeowner has some clean-up afterwards! Not with Dreamworx! The roof & gutter team cleaned up all trash & nails using a rake and magnets...I walked the yard afterwards and couldn’t find one!! I was outside with the team and found one of my patio light plastic tops knocked off ( their older and aging) and I bent down to fix it when one member of the team practically pushed me out of the way and stating that, we did this, we will fix it ...hows that for integrity and professionalism! Also, now to mention, service after the sale! Dreamworx is not just wham-bam & go company, they go out of their way to take care of you and make sure your happy when all is said and done! We had a lot of questions before, during and after - all answered very satisfactorily! We also requested a minor change which, one of the owners is taking care of without question or judgement!! Service Driven!! If you want the best contractor / company in the area, who can take you from start to finish with fair prices, without worry, achieving spectacular and professional results, look no further! Dreamworx is the one to contact! Quality workmanship, timely and reliable work ethics and honest communication! Dreamworx will make sure you are 100% completely satisfied before rendering the job complete! However, be advised, don’t wait too long to schedule your home improvement needs...or you may have to wait in-line! Thank-you Dreamworx - Stephen and Matt!! Kathryn & Todd Shaffer Selinsgrove, PA"

"The job went very well. I was surprised how fast a crew of 5-6 people could tear off the roof and put a new one on. We had some rain in the forecast for later in the day and I was a little concerned but they assured me that it would be watertight before any rain fell. To followup on the job, we just received a gift basket containing Lancaster County food products as a thank you for using their services, which was a nice touch on their part."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Hummelstown, PA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
