"Cabinet Gems owner Jim Scroggin is a craftsman of exquisite talent, and he builds cabinets like Michelangelo painted ceilings. Not only does my kitchen look absolutely beautiful, but the wood is top quality, the carefully applied finishes are tested and perfect, the design is thoroughly thought-through. I received preliminary and finished drawings so I knew from day to day what decisions were being made and had a chance to ask questions or offer preferences on every drawer, ever shelf, every cabinet, every pantry, the trim, the bay shoe---every detail is handled carefully, thoroughly, and with a result not often seen in this century. The drawers open and close like silk, every door and drawer are perfectly aligned--I just can't praise the work or the outcome enough. I knew what I wanted, but Mr. Scroggin refined my ideas, added touches that improved the outcome, and was invaluable to work with. <br /> Also, Cabinet Gems followed the progress so that all the complementary finishes--floors, backsplashes, countertops-- and related work such as electrical wiring and plumbing were installed in such a way that the cabinets remain pristine and the other workmen have the easiest time doing a good job. He makes sure it all comes together for a quality installation. This was a massive job in an 80-year-old house and it was a challenge. <br /> I am interested in using them again, because Cabinet Gems also offers remodeling work on cabinets of all kinds--kitchen, of course, but also built-ins in all rooms: entertainment centers, bookcases, game rooms, china cabinets, etc. I understand they perform commercial work in businesses and office buildings, too. <br /> I'm happy because I have a new kitchen that came in at a better price and higher quality than I ever expected. I know the craftsmanship is high quality and will hold up well and look great for many, many years. <br />"

"Fran and Michael Lanari came to our home to assess bathroom and take measurements.  Discussed options and style design at that time.  Once they had all their figures/ideas in place we went to their business to discuss details.  Fran had selected combinations of tile, stone, glasswork, colors.  We selected the plumbing fixtures, vanity, etc at this time.  They were extremely knowledgeable with the design aspect and had a good idea of the style we were looking for.  The workers (Samson Birch and his crew) were very professional and knowledgeable in what they were doing.  Samson gave us suggestions on placement of several items with explanation of why it would be better one way versus the other way.  Workers came ready to work. The bathroom was gutted, tile shower with stone flooring and a "waterfall" design with glass tiles were installed after prep work, shower bar and corner shelves were installed. Shower fixtures, vanity fixtures, automatic fan installed.  New high vanity installed, framed mirror, toilet, shower doors, tile flooring, above toilet cabinet.  The bathroom looks bigger and I have plenty of storage.  We were extremely satisfied and would definitely use them again. <br />"

"Jessie at Rideout helped me so much in planning my countertop remodel from my 1999 Formica to beautiful quartz. She also chose a glass and stone tile backsplash that added an excellent punch of color and texture. We chose some great looking pewter or brushed nickel hardware for the cabinets. My kitchen went from plain to gorgeous. I'm so happy with it. Sammy made the template and installed the product, and he's about the nicest guy around as well as a perfectionist. I'm so glad I went to Ridout. Beautiful job!"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Humnoke, AR

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
