"Jose and his crew installed a~360 sq. ft. patio using Nicolock pavers and contrasting charcoal border pavers in 2.5 days. Outstanding job. When I asked them about using edging to prevent the pavers from shifting, I was told that he does not use edging. Instead the perimeter is first installed as retaining wall blocks set in mortar! After the perimeter is set, the site is then excavated, compacted, covered with weed suppressing fabric. The fabric is then covered with crushed stone layer, compacted and sand is then laid on top, compacted and leveled and properly graded. I chose the herringbone design shown in their logo and very happy with the choice. The border pavers are laid on top of the retaining wall blocks and are "glued" to them using mortar/liquid cement. After the border pavers had set, the crew applied polymer sand to fill in the gaps between pavers. This "grouting" was done twice. The final product is solid as a rock and not going anywhere! VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR WORK. Jose Espinal's company is insured and bonded, so hire them for your project and be worry free."

"Once again, Brothers Pavers did a wonderful job with my project. We began planning this after they fixed my damaged concrete steps back in January. They were proactive in reaching out to let me know when the weather would permit them to coat the steps and paint. They also researched and found a suitable coating for the job, and kept me involved in all steps of the process. This is a great company to work with, communicative and take pride in their work. Brothers Pavers is my go-to for contracting."

"Lazaro and his crew members, Fidel, William, and Issac, transformed our back yard from being a dirty and unpleasant hellscape where my wife and I never spent any time to being a beautiful and clean space where we can host parties, cookouts, and relax. The crew was extremely professional, organized, thoughtful, experienced, efficient, and communicative throughout the course of the project. I was quite impressed with their design and planning skills, extensive experience, and passion for their work. My wife and I own a small row house with a small back yard, which presented unique challenges to the crew: no back yard access except through neighbors’ properties. The crew handled this challenge well by being communicative and friendly with my neighbors and always cleaning up the space at the end of each working day. They always ensured that the fencing and hardscaping looked good from both sides of the property line, so that my neighbors were also happy! Another challenge was that an adjacent property is about 3 feet above grade and not pleasant to look at from our yard. Lazaro’s planning and vision for a beige brick half-wall, topped with wooden lattice flower boxes was a great finishing touch that provided a beautiful transition between the red brick paver patio and the elevated wooden fence to block the view of the adjacent property. The crew carefully planned their work from the beginning, so that there were no surprises at the end as the finishing touches were put on and the fence was erected. My wife and I are also confident that the money we spent on this work will be a great investment—not only for enjoying our new home, but also in the resale value some day in the future. Our back yard is now something to brag about! We are also confident that the work quality and materials are built to last a very long time. We are so happy. Thank you, Lazaro!"

"We had a great experience working with Mike and his DC Patio crews. Relationships are important when entering into a big project, and we clicked right away with Mike. During his initial site visit, he listened to what we were looking for, provided suggestions for us to consider on details where we were undecided, and really took it all in as it was a large project wrapping around three sides of the house. He was flexible regarding our desire to source some of our own materials, and provided a detailed, comprehensive estimate that was very competitive relative to other proposals we received. Our project was delayed due to our preferred materials being unavailable as the factory shut down for two months during the initial COVID-19 lockdowns, but once we had a delivery date, DC Patio was able to get us on their schedule and get started. The crews were great: respectful, courteous, polite, tidy. Edgardo and Victor were here almost everyday, and Henry, Marvin, Donaldo, and others joined depending on nature and scope of the day's work. Mike usually came out in the morning to go over the plan for the next day or two and walk through any design decisions that were needed. In the course of about five weeks, the crews were able to remove two old walkways (including jackhammering out a set of concrete steps), add 4-10 inches of soil all the way around the house to create slope for drainage, divert 5 downspouts with underground pipes and pop-up emitters as well as two catch basins, build the crushed stone base for the new walkways and multi-level patio, install a small retaining/seating wall as well as two long, curved steps between the levels, build three small sets of bluestone steps into the house, and install two curving paver walkways, three pavers circles, a fire pit, and a large paver patio, totaling almost 2000 sq ft! And they moved a few large plants and installed some landscape lighting at each stair riser to boot. The last step was to seed the area around the patio for grass, but due to it being early July, we all expected that it may be too hot for the seed to take root even with daily watering. Mike anticipated this and planned to send a crew back in the early fall to overseed, which he did proactively without prompting. The grass seed took hold the second time and now we are all set to enjoy our new spaces this spring! We always like to support local business who take care of their customers AND their employees, and Mike's commitment to communicating with his crews in Spanish is clearly appreciated. The commitment goes both ways - we talked to several of his guys who have worked with him for many years. I would highly recommend considering DC Patio if you're in the market to transform your property with beautiful hardscaping."

"I love my new patio! The installation took to full businesses days and I was able to use the patio 24 after the work was done. What I appreciate the most about the company was that the owner was only a phone call or text away if I had any questions. Everyone was extremely professional and from excellent craftsmanship, I know that they take pride in the work that they do. I would highly recommend this company for your landscaping needs!"

"Bottom line up front: This is how working with contractors should be! Hands down, this is the absolute best contractor we have ever, ever dealt with! <br /> Our project was the removal of an existing dilapidated deck to be replaced with a new patio constructed of Nicolock pavers, surrounded by a two-foot high sitting wall. The project required than an existing window from the basement be sealed and stairs constructed to sliding glass doors. The design also called for four exits from the patio, all with steps (either up or down). Because of the location of the sump pump drain, it was necessary to reroute the outflow into a dry well, which they also constructed. Some minor regrading was involved, too. <br /> The salesman, Mike Walters, was knowledgeable and easy to work with. We had drawn out the shape of the patio we wanted and based on some research, had some specific requirements as to how we wanted the patio constructed. Mike worked with us to make appropriate modifications to the contract to meet our needs. Notably, he also pointed out one thing we wanted that they wouldn't be willing to do because it could cause problems later. It was a minor issue and my wife (who is an engineer) said his reasoning made sense. We appreciated a salesman who was willing to say No and give a good reason instead of just agreeing to everything just to get the sale. The bid he gave was not the lowest we got, but we were much more comfortable with this company than the low bidder. <br /> We had scheduled the job well in advance and everything began on time. The job took about 2 weeks to complete. The workmen were extremely competent and hardworking. They cleaned up after themselves well every day (the only complaint we have in this regard is that their truck leaked oil and nothing was done to clean it up).   <br /> There were several times when adjustments had to be made to the original plan due to unforeseen circumstances. The owner explained the situation and made recommendations and let us decide how we wanted to proceed. No pressure, just information. Even better: at least twice that I recall, they redid work they'd already done without us having to say anything to them because they knew it wasn't quite right rather than letting it slide and hoping we wouldn't notice (as other contractors have done). The quality of work was first rate. They made sure to slope the patio appropriately to ensure water flows away from the house, which was a serious concern. The only hiccup we had was that they didn't install geotextile, as we'd requested (and included in the contract). When we pointed it out, they were going to remove all the fill and put it down (without argument or making excuses), but we decided that if they'd extend the warranty to from 5 to 10 years, we'd be okay with not having the geotex. They agreed and work proceeded.  <br /> Throughout the process, the owner, John Morgando, visited the site regularly and made sure we were satisfied with everything. After the project was done, he stopped by and we mentioned wishing the grade outside the patio was a little higher, and he offered to take care of it (no charge). He also said that if there was still any efflorescence on the pavers in a few months they'd come back and give it another scrub.  <br /> The end result is simply phenomenal looking (check out the photos)! <br />"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Hyattsville, MD

To calculate your paver needs:

  • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

  • Determine how many square feet you need.

  • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

  • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

  • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

  • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

  • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
