"David rebuilt my deck stairs which are a story or two high and fixed the railing on top of the deck and fixed the supports under the deck. He also fixed and repaired my back porch. It was a lot of work for both projects, but he did a great job on both. He's very easy to talk to and work with and he has a great personality and work ethic. He listened and answered all my concerns and questions I had about both projects. He even listened to my input about making the deck stairs a little better and it turned out great. He did a fantastic job with my deck and back porch. A He's very knowledgeable and fair with his prices. (I needed a licensed contractor I could depend on that knew what he was doing and wouldn't over charge me or screw me over on substandard work. I've had bad experiences with that in the past with a different contractor.) I was lucky to find David on Angie's List. David did fantastic work and fixed everything I needed fixing. I'm definetly use him again."

"Nathan has done multiple projects for me including putting siding on my garage and storage building, putting up a new fence, replacing faucets in bathroom and kitchen, hanging a new TV, making new flowerbeds and mulching, and replacing a shower head. I will absolutely hire him again. He is honest, dependable, hard working, and knowledgeable. His rates are very reasonable for the quality of his work. Couldn’t recommend him enough!"

FAQs for wood fence repair projects in Johnson City, TN

Financial responsibility depends on where the fence sits. If it’s clearly inside your lot, you foot the bill. When it’s right on the property line, state laws—California and Illinois are two examples—usually require both neighbors to split repair costs equally unless you agree otherwise. Check your local rules before scheduling work so you know exactly what you’re on the hook for.

Start by walking the fence line and noting every issue—loose boards, leaning posts, cracked panels. Next, gather at least three quotes from licensed contractors, comparing experience, warranties, and costs. Once you pick a pro, they’ll secure materials, reset posts, and fix or replace damaged sections. A thorough inspection and a qualified contractor keep the fence safe and extend its life.

Straightening a leaning fence costs an average of $200 to $400. A fencing pro will assess the damage, reset or replace the posts, and realign the panels so the fence stands upright again. Fixing the lean early on prevents further strain on framing and keeps the structure both sturdy and attractive.
