"Couldn't have gone any better. Most cabinet makers require that we go to them with hopefully accurate measurements, but the Cabinet Wizard makes house calls! Brad arrived at my home with no prior details of what I was looking for in cabinets for our master bath. In probably 90 minutes he measured, sketched up exactly what I wanted, helped me choose the right finish using samples he brought with him, quoted the price, scheduled my order, and gave me an approximate delivery date. The sketches he left were very accurate as I had to have an electrician, plumber, and a countertop contractor work off those plans, and everything fit together without a hitch. My cabinet drawers have the soft close feature and the materials are top quality. The Cabinet Wizard doesn't carry cabinet pulls, but he installed the ones I had picked out free of charge (and there were a lot!). The beautiful cabinets and mirrors were done on schedule, installed quickly and efficiently, and seven months later, I still absolutely love the work he did and wouldn't change a thing. Brad has a sense of humor and it was a pleasure doing business with him and with his wife, Dawn, who was so kind and patient answering my questions during the process. I had previously had my kitchen cabinets made by Lowe's, and trust me, it was a nightmare. If you want personalized attention, great price, easy communication, and top quality work, The Cabinet Wizard is the way to go."

"We first met Laura at a recent San Antonio Home Show, and were impressed with the demonstration of of the Shelf Genie products that she had at the show.  We arranged for her to analyze our current kitchen storage areas (typical pull-out drawers and cabinets with fixed shelves).   She explained each of the options for us to consider for converting our existing cabinets and drawers to ones which could be more efficient ins storage space and retrieval of items through the use of Shelf Genie products.   We opted to have 12 of our spaces converted to Shelf Genie products, including two pull-out cabinets and ten pull-out shelves that encompassed the full length and width of the cabinets.  Shortly thereafter her expert installer meticulously measured all of the existing cabinets and drawers to be converted, completely answered any questions that we had about any of the Shelf Genie variations, and ordered the Shelf Genie products needed to satisfy our order.  About a month later the products arrived, and he installed all 12 items in about 2-3 hours.   We've had the Shelf Genie products now for about four months, and our only regret is that we didn't obtain them earlier.   Not only has our kitchen storage space been increased as a result of the pull-out shelves encompassing the full length and width of each cabinet (versus the half-shelf common with 2-shelf floor cabinets), but the ability to organize, store, and retrieve items has been significantly improved as a result of the Shelf Genie solutions.   A bit pricey, but well worth the cost. <br />"

"When we did our remodel, Top Quality Cabinets was the only provider we hired that didn't have an Angie's List rating at the time (March 2013). We loved the fact that Jerry (owner) is a veteran, his quote was less expensive than all the others we received (Home Depot, Lowes, Parrish, Lone Star Construction, K&M Builders, et. al.) and he offered a superior product. His website was also impressive. We hired Top Quality Cabinets to build 42" upper cabinets, a new cabinet pantry & new cabinets for two bathroom vanities. We made our initial payment installment and all seemed to go according to plans. Jerry made sure the boxes were installed in time (April 2013)  for the floor to be laid, the countertops to be installed & for the electrician to install over cabinet & under cabinet lighting. The quality of the boxes are second to none: thick REAL wood, not plywood, better, longer screws (not cheap nails) and the brackets were also superior. The light rail turned out beautiful as did the crown moulding. One quirk: the crown moulding in the half bath was installed upside down but it's not noticeable since the rooms are not visible from one another. Even 8 months later, when we had an issue with a particular drawer glide, Jerry came out to address the issue. Although the project took longer than planned, we would contract with Top Quality Cabinets all over again. His attention to detail, pride in workmanship and customer service have made us his biggest fans! <br />"

"The Granite looks beautiful! Ernest was gracious to hold my granite piece for 4 months while I shopped for new cabinets. He was careful to measure my granite carefully to avoid damage to my walls. The installation went smooth and the crew made sure I was happy with the caulking and silicon. I'll be looking to this company for my children's bathroom remodeling. <br />"

"Great service, workmanship, and ease of working with all First Call Employees and sub contractors. Most notable was the communications, coordination in scheduling sub contractors, and the follow up provided by Patrick. Patrick took the lead and initiated all contact with us and kept us updated on all phases of the project to include the progress of getting new kitchen cabinets made and installed. He always provided the name, time, and date of arrival of all First Call employees and sub contractors, and best of all they all showed up on time. This was exceptional customer service."

"<p> I had this large wall-to-ceiling (6’x8’x30”) closet in the main entryway of the house that was outdated and an eyesore. I wanted to change it into a built-in bookcase with cabinets, so in March I researched on Angie’s list the best furniture/cabinet makers in the San Antonio area. Premium Furniture and Cabinets (PFand C) was one of the top five that I choose to get a quote. Out of the five companies, three gave me quotes - all were within range of each other, so the cost was not a driving factor. </p> <p> What sold me on PFand C were the owners, Janusz and Barbara. They were on-time for the meetings, listened to what I was looking for in a bookcase/cabinet, and made me feel at ease with my ideas. Right off the bat, I knew that PFand C was different because when Janusz started measuring the closet, he didn’t just come in for 5 minutes and measure like the rest of the companies did (a quick side-to-side, back-to-front, up and down). He took detailed measurements of the entire closet area, in ways I didn’t know you should ever measure a space. And on top of that, he found something that none of the other companies did, which could have been catastrophic to the design of my built-in bookcase. While Janusz was busy doing what he does best, Barbara was doing what she does best – she was asking me questions about what styles I typically liked, what type of woods and stains/colors, appealed to me, etc. She had me go through a book and point out types of styles for doors – shaker, flat panel, etc. You could tell they both knew what they were doing and genuinely seemed to care about what I wanted. When they sent me the final quote, it came with a detailed drawing of everything we talked about. If I didn’t like something or wasn’t sure, I let them know or turned to them for advice. They had no problem changing something or providing suggestions or recommendations. </p> <p> As the bookcase was being built, Barbara kept me updated on it’s progress. When it was close to being completed, we set up another meeting to discuss stains and handles. When she came back out to the house, she actually brought a large piece of the African Mahogany with 12 different stain samples so I could get a real feel for what it would look like in the home. She allowed me to take my time and if I wasn’t sure about a color, I would ask for her opinion and she was always honest and forthcoming. </p> <p> On the day of installation, PFand C arrived on time. It took a little over 5 hours to install the bookcase because they had to bring it in in sections. It was amazing to watch as Janusz put it together, because I don’t think I fully understood how large a piece of furniture this bookcase really was, until it was completely put together and installed. Without a doubt, you can tell that Janusz is indeed a master cabinet maker. Words cannot describe the incredible craftsmanship that went into creating this built-in bookcase (you have to see the pictures). I had an image/idea of what I wanted but Janusz and Barbara took it and ran with it – making the final product exceed and surpass my expectations. The bookcase is a true masterpiece of artwork and I cannot wait for everyone to see it as they walk into my house.</p> <p>If I could give PFand C a higher grade than an “A”, I most definitely would! I recommend this company whole-heartedly and know that you will fall in love with not only the high quality, master craftsmanship that goes into every piece of furniture, but also with Janusz and Barbara.</p> <p> </p> <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Karnes City, TX

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
