"Mr. Nettles came out to my property within an hour or so of calling him. Gave me a fair quote and did great work. He takes pride in his work and wants to make sure his customers are satisfied. He definitely worked hard! He is also a wonderful person to speak to and have dealings with. I had him trim my palm trees, remove a giant pine with stump grinding, and remove a patch of cacti. Give Mr. Nettles a call!"

Small jobs welcome

"I used Shawn at SouthState for underbrush clearing, tree removal, mulching, and general land cleanup on my 5-acre property in Oakes Estates. He transformed what looked like a dense forest into something that resembles a national park. I've hired other companies for similar projects in the past, but Shawn's work truly stood out. First, when he says he'll be there, he shows up—a quality that's harder to find than it should be. Second, SouthState uses top-of-the-line equipment, which makes a noticeable difference in both the quality and efficiency of the work. What impressed me most, however, was Shawn's knowledge and willingness to walk me through the pros and cons of the different service options. He helped me understand that the cheapest option isn't always the best value. Spending a little more to have the job done correctly the first time can save a lot of money and frustration compared to hiring someone later to fix another contractor's mistakes. Highly recommended"

Emergency services offered

"We have used several different Tree Service companies over the past 20 years (to include a couple also on "Angie's List"), and this one was by far the best. Several had done "okay" work, and left a lot of debris behind, &/or stepped all over and ruined the other landscape plants around the base of the trees. Others did good work (although we now know not as good as Jerome Young Tree Service), but we had been frustrated with how long it took them to finally come out to give an estimate, and even longer to get them to finally get out to get the work done (last time it was 2 1/2 months after the estimate before taht company finally showed up to do the work, and only after calling them several times to inquire when we could finally expect them. We took a chance and called "Jerome Young Tree Service" after finding their professional-looking business card on our mailbox. Jerome and his girlfriend came out the same day we called to give us an estimate, and arrived exactly at 5:00p as scheduled. The estimate was extrememlt reasonable (much more so than any of the other Tree Services we have used previously), to include a $50.00 "dump fee", as our Homeowners Association and the County do not permit us to have a large amount of tree debris piled up on the curb by a Tree Service for pick-up by Waste Management. Jerome and his girlfriend, and two other employees arrived the very next morning, just as promised, and worked diligently for about 3 hours. Our trees have never lookd so good, most especially the huge, "monster" Traveler Palm in our side yard...Jerome and his crew not only removed all the dead and dying branches, but also trimmed away all the growth around the trunks....none of the other Tree Services ever did this, and we imply cannot believe the diffrence in the tree's appearance! They cleaned up every scrap of debris from around our yard, and, as requested, tried to be careful (especially Jerome's girfriend) to protect the landscaping plants around the base of the trees. We wish we had found this Tree Service company years ago, and will most definitely use them again in the future, and would not hesitate to recommend them to others."

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Lake Placid, FL

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
