"After having a troubling experience with another well known Baton Rouge roofing company, I was glad that Garcia Roofing was a completely different experience. The first part of my experience was meeting with Darrel Walker and going through his thorough inspection of my roof and over my options of repairing vs replacing. I asked a ton of questions and received all the information I needed to make my decision. The process was informative and stress free. The second part of my experience was the roof replacement process. I really appreciated the constant communication from the project manager, Jose Vargas. Jose was able to keep me up to date on the progress of the project and walk me through the work done afterward. I also received messages from the office project team with updates on material deliveries and repair dates. Going through any major home repair or replacement can be a very stressful task. I really appreciated the time, information, and attention to detail I received from the entire team at Garcia Roofing."

"Everything went just as expected. Crew replaced large steep roof in one day and cleaned up everything to the point that it was cleaner than when they arrived. Supervisor returned the next day to check on finished job and ran magnet around the house again to pick up any nails crew may have missed. Would not hesitate to hire again or recommend them."

"Everything was complete in a timely manner. Estimate was given the day after I called, and the repairs made just a couple of days after that. Reliable, courteous, and reasonable price for a small job. I won’t hesitate to call them back when I need the whole roof replaced one day."

"Repairs to my Mother's roof were good, survived a 4 inch rain fall in two hours. The work on the workshop went very well. It started to rain about an hour before completion of the job but the guys kept on working and finished. The temperature had dropped a lot but they kept right on until the job was done. In the dark and rain they cleaned up the site very well."

"On 12-4-14, my a/c quit.  <br /> I thought it was the thermostat, which I tried to replace with a Nest  <br /> thermostat.  It wouldn?t work because of no power (no common wire came to thermostat). <br /> I called Dusty.  They came on 12-6.  Rewired and installed the <br /> Nest thermostat, replace a transformer, and did some other work.  <br /> They said everything worked fine and left.  They promised to <br /> come back to do some other work involved in the safety of the A/C. <br /> It worked for 12 hours, then stopped working. <br /> I called them, and they came back on 12-8.  They rewired (2nd time) the <br /> thermostat and also completed the other safety work. <br /> The unit worked until 3-16.  <br /> The Nest thermostat had an error message that it was not getting power.  <br /> Dusty?s crew came out on 3-17.  They replaced a transformer (2nd <br /> time ? how many transformers are there?), did some more rewiring (3rd <br /> time) and said it was fixed.  They started to leave, and before they did, <br /> I looked at the thermostat and saw that it had the same error message.  <br /> They had actually prepared and given me a bill for $150, saying that the unit was <br /> fixed.  As I showed them that it wasn?t,  They worked for another hour, <br /> then said it was fixed and gave me a bill for $267. <br /> This time, it only took me 3 hours to realize that the unit was not <br /> fixed ? the condenser was running constantly, whether it was on inside or not. <br /> I called Dusty the next morning, and he came out that afternoon (3-18).  <br /> After working for a couple hours, rewiring the thermostat and outside wires <br /> again (4th time) and determined that the problem was the Nest thermostat.  <br /> He replaced that with a thermostat of his own, and the unit began to work again. <br /> The next day I called Nest. Upon their recommendation, I reinstalled the Nest <br /> on my own, we went through several diagnostics and determined that Dusty <br /> was correct and the Nest was bad.  Nest replaced it, I installed it, and the <br /> unit is now working correctly. <br /> The question remains ? what caused the Nest to go bad?  Did it just die?  <br /> Or did the multiple rewirings have something to do with it?  <br /> I don?t know the answer. <br /> I chose Dusty?s for two reasons.  He was listed as a Nest authorized installer, <br /> and he had good ratings on Angie?s.  But he showed little knowledge of the <br /> Nest, even saying he didn?t know a lot about them. Plus, on his visits, <br /> he badmouthed Nest thermostats saying several customers had had problems <br /> with them.  I was a little disappointed that as an authorized installer that <br /> he would have that attitude.  Although he got everything working at the end, <br /> it was not with the thermostat that I had bought, and he had installed.  As an  <br /> alleged authorized Nest Installer, I felt like he went so far and just gave up <br /> on the Nest, fixed it like he knew how, and left it at that.  I feel like he should  <br /> have tried harder to get the Nest replaced. <br />  Pros: <br /> Dusty answered his own phone. <br /> He was prompt in coming out. <br /> Properly diagnosed the fact that the Nest was bad. <br /> Cons: <br /> Each time he came out, it required two trips. <br /> He did not properly check his work. <br /> Not knowledgeable about Nest despite being on their <br />    list.  (Possibly a Nest problem ? I have <br />    contacted them about it.) <br /> Overpriced in my opinion, but hard to tell as his bills were <br />    not itemized.  His 4th visit was no charge (that?s a good thing). <br /> $826 total charge for maintenance is almost as much as I <br />    paid for the outside unit a couple years ago. <br />"

"Great! Paul came to assess the leak within 24 hours of my call. He looked at both interior leak area on ceiling, in attic, and at exterior area on the roof. He determined that leak was not an ongoing problem but a minor one time leak caused by pressure washing of the roof done recently. He recommended I just Kilz and repaint the ceiling. He was here 20 minutes but very kindly did not charge me anything for his inspection and advice :) Attentive, professional and knowledgeable. Thank you Paul, and I will definitely call for future all-around house repair needs!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in LaPlace, LA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
