"I think the customer is always right. The GC did not. I had replaced a dripping faucet valve stem on the tub the morning before the paint job and I checked it for drips. The drip had been fixed for a day before the painting began. The painter arrived the next afternoon to tape, including wrapping the tub spigot in plastic, but tore it off before the paint was dry and two drips came out of the spigot. Why did not he just leave it covered? I could have torn it off after the 3 days I was instructed to wait before using the tub. The drops ruined the fresh paint. In my discussion with the GC he said it was my fault. I say if you are a professional painter, you check everything before you wrap and stuff a rag in anything that could drip first. There was no need to remove the plastic around the spigot before the 3 days had passed. I am very disappointed. I have yet to use the tub and I hope the blemish diminishes with time."
