"Brian worked with us for about 12 months on scheduling the project as we had significant exterior repairs to porches and trim due to winter damage. He assisted us on paint selection (many different shades) and ultimately we choose a slighly darker shade than was currently on the home. Brian's attention to detail was evident on the finished product. The pallette of Grey is crisp against the bright white trim, and the moldings and bead board ceilings of the porches appear to jump out in detail. Brian was willing to work around repair projects and move on to other areas of the home, while repairs to trim occurred. Some sections of the home were beyond the reach of ladders and Brian rented a Boom Lift to assist with these higher areas. The work took 3-4 weeks, which was a bit longer than some of the quotes we received from larger companies; however, Brian's attention to detail and willingness to work with us on our schedule were welcomed. We would reccomend him to anyone looking for a good value, and great attention to detail. <br />"

"This was a wonderful company to work with.  New Leaf Construction performed repair to the exterior of our art gallery building.  The damage was caused by significant rot / water issues.  We have very high expectations and we are quite meticulous in the upkeep of our properties.  New Leaf far exceeded customer service expectations and by far was the most responsive and courteous company that we have worked with in Maine.  The crew was responsible and respectful.  The contract process was quite clear and detailed.  The billing procedures and follow up was superb.  The work was completed to perfection."

"We used this company several years ago and were very happy. Then and now, we found the people very easy to work with. <br /> He was supposed to show up at 9 but didn't arrive until 9:30. He didn't call but he did apologize for being late. We were fine with that as he looked the work over and got right to it. He, as well as any we have dealt with at this company, was very polite, considerate, and personable. He also spoke highly of his boss and company which is a rarity these days. Phil was going to put booties on his shoes, but since it was a nice day, we told him not to bother...he was hesitant but complied with our request. <br /> He did a great job on everything and took the liberty to do some things above and beyond for appearance and utility reasons. He worked hard all day and wouldn't accept anything we offered but water. <br /> The only issue we had was the final bill in which we incurred overtime charges that we were not aware of up front. We paid it but told the company we felt misinformed by not being aware that rates change after so many hours. THE COMPANY MADE IT RIGHT!!! You don't see that very often. <br /> These are the kind of people I would want helping my elder friends. You might pay a little more than "Joe handyman" but they are reputable and stand behind their work...you get what you pay for. <br /> I recommend them to anyone except those who want to pay cheaply for shoddy workmanship. We will call them again if the need arises!! <br />"

"<p>Maine Construction Group is a Bangor, Maine locally owned family operated business founded by Ryan Francis. Ron Francis, COO of Maine Construction Group and proud father of Ryan, came and gave us an estimate for the work needing to be performed. His response to our initial call was extremely prompt, the estimate reasonable and at all times Ron was a total professional. He answered all of our questions, of which there were many, without hesitation. Every promise made was fulfilled and their work was above reproach. We had a very tight time-line which we made known to Ron. He checked his schedule, gave us an estimate of the time required and when he could fit the job into the schedule. He gave us an estimated completion date along with his cost estimate. We accepted his proposal and work began as scheduled. The crew put in charge of the project were also highly professional and conscientious. They did the extensive remodel without disrupting the surroundings more than necessary and every evening they cleaned up the area before leaving. They worked long days and partial weekends to complete the job as promised. We were very pleased with the results and felt that the price was reasonable. Our greatest satisfaction was in having the job done well and on time. We are pleased to recommend Maine Construction Group for any work within their capabilities. We are planning to have them replace our roof this spring!<br /> <br /> </p> <p>Contractor Virtues : Honest, prompt, reliable, reasonable and personable. The entire crew was a pleasure to have in our home. Ron was always just a text or phone call away and he came to the site every day to check on the progress and Ryan also visited to make sure all was well. Any problems were always resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. We would not hesitate using this company for any additional work. In fact, we have just sent them a text requesting their services for a roofing project.</p>"

"Three years ago, we had a company called Cowette Construction (West Bath, ME) replace our roof and install ridge vents on four sections of the roof. Just this summer (2008) when removing a ceiling in the attic, we discovered that when Cowette Construction installed the ridge vents, they did not cut the small slots in the ridge of the roof that allow the hot air to exit through the ridge vents. This meant that the ridge vents were totally useless. When I tried to contact Ryan Cowette of Cowette Construction his cell phone number was no longer in service and apparently Mr. Cowette had declared bankruptcy and gone out of business. Mr. Alphonse Keenan had been a manager for Cowette Construction at the time of the roofing job. When I called the old office number for Cowette Construction, it answered as Keenan Construction. After talking with Mr. Keenan, he explained that he had started a new company called Keenan Construction without Ryan Cowette. Mr. Keenan explained that Cowette Construction had left a number of former customers with problems in the work that Cowette had done. Mr. Keenan said that even though he was not legally responsible for the work done by Cowette Construction, he was doing his best to fix what outstanding problems there were as a gesture of goodwill for the new company he had started. Mr. Keenan agreed that if I paid for the materials ($200) he would do the labor for free. This past week he came and removed the old ridge vent, cut the required slots, and put in a new ridge vent. The quality of his work was excellent. I was very impressed with Mr. Keenan's professionalism and willingness to correct a problem that was not technically his responsibility. I will definitely call him for future work."

"Chris and his did an excellent job installing a metal roof, completing the job in 2 days. His crew's work was well executed and any adjustments I requested were handled quickly. His pricing was by far the best in the area when compared to several other contractors quotes and the overall quality of the materials and workmanship was excellent."

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Lincoln, ME

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
