"Jack and his team are incredible. There were issues with our alarm system and with our entertainment center that were head scratchers that I had tried to resolve but could not. I also needed to replace my universal remote. Jack was able to download the files I saved in my computer for my remote, convert the data into a useable format and load that into the new remote. All which saved me money. His team installed a smart tv on a bedroom wall and placed all the wiring in the wall and moved electrical behind the tv. All my issues were resolved and we are once again enjoying our home as it was intended. These are great professionals and better people!!"

"I reached out to these guys again, after an excellent first experience. I was hoping they could do me a favor by installing two new ceiling fans right before Christmas [I had uninstalled the two old fans}. The guestroom fan was straight forward but the dinning room fan 2-way wiring had me scratching my head. Well they responded and put these fans up before the holiday and we are thrilled with our new fans; one has a remote. Thanks guys for helping us out on short notice and doing another bang-up electrical quality job at an affordable rate!"

"M/I Electric did a great job and were the most reasonably priced.  They quoted over $100 less than four other companies.  Everything was very well done and no mess was left behind.  They even looked at a bathroom switch we had been having trouble and fixed that issue without adding other charges.  I would highly recommend them.

"Jim explained what he would do, he and his crew came out quickly, efficiently performed the work, and left all work areas spotless.  He took the time to educate me about the problems we had and how they were addressed.  I've had a lot of work done on the 45 year old home I am remodeling and have accordingly dealt with numerous contractors.  When it comes to great workmanship at an even better price, Jim is at the top of the list.  I just hope he doesn't retire before I need him again."

"My electrician was TJ and he did an amazing job. First up was installing a new heavy chandelier in the dining room. He determined the junction box wouldn't hold the weight of the new chandelier and installed one that would. Chandelier install went great. He moved forward to installing electrical two wall sconces in the dining room. Going into this project I was fulling expecting the whole wall to require drywall repair. In the end, I have one small, very neat, hole in the kitchen that will need repair. The chandelier had two single wall switches in the dining room. He placed a dimmer on one switch and on the second he changed it out to two switches. One for the chandelier and one for the two wall sconces. This exceeded my expectations for the room. He wrapped up the day by installing a new bar light fixture of the vanity. TJ is a thoughtful and talented electrician. I'm more than pleased with the work performed and would recommend Fairway Electric."

"Robert recently did some A/V work inside my house and I was so impressed with the end result that I have had him back out three more times for other projects.  The most recent was the installation of speakers and a TV in my back deck area.  Robert is always on time, pleasant to deal with, is extremely knowledgeable, really good at any troubleshooting and leaves me with easy-to-use system that looks and sounds great.  For the back deck system, he hid the speakers in surrounding landscaping so you can hear the audio perfectly, but you don't see the speakers.  He mounted the TV neatly with no visible wires and it blends in nicely with the rest of the decorations/structure. I highly recommend Sound Advice and Robert Lyon for any home theater/A/V work.

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Locust, NC

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
