"I initially met with Jarrod Hewitt to discuss cost options and replacement colors on our home.  Jarrod showed up on time, was courteous and professional about the work.  He measured the diameters of the roof and showed my wife and I color options.  This included explaining the difference in shingle types, manufacturers and warranties associated with them. <br /> After we mutually agreed on the cost, Jarrod provided me with a timeline of scheduled work.  This included tear off, new installation, and hauling off any debris.  The job was completed exactly as we planned it.  The crew showed up as promised and the work was completed three days later.  The third day was mostly cleaning up and picking up nails, etc. <br /> After the job was complete, I complimented the foreman Edgar on a superb job.  Then on Friday 12/4, I traveled to Hewitt's Roofing Inc. office located in Ferriday, LA to take care of the payment for work completed.  Cynthia and the office staff were professional and easy to work with.  The invoice and warranty information was explained and I thanked them also for helping with the project. <br /> I would recommend Hewitt's Roofing to anyone who is in need of a new roof.  <br /> Thanks <br /> Jimmy <br />"

"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

"I called them for an estimate and he came right out.  They worked with my insurance company estimate and provided me with prompt and professional service.  They came out and ripped off the old roof , picked up all the debris and nails and put on my new roof.  They did a great job and I would definitely use this company in the future for other construcion needs around my home.  Quick professional service.  No payment requested until the job was completed. <br />"

"The phone call placed to get a price and make an appointment was pleasant. The technician called ahead of time and was on time to the appointment. He (James) was very knowledgeable and good at what he did. He explained the different features to me thoroughly and gave me pointers and dos-and don'ts on the machine. Install only happened yesterday, but so far i am pleased."

"Mr haas has worked with us on two houses since Nov, 2011. He was instrumental in helping us uncover all problems associated with 2 houses we purchased since then. He knows his stuff, and my roofing company has a great deal of respect for him, as he assists them in any area he can. He guided the process of fixing problem areas at our Virginia Beach house as well as our Richmond house."

"We had a leak in rear shower that was allowing water to slip into subflooring and joists. Various repair men  had said nothing under there. Astro termite company inspections each year said 'normal', 'no problem'. The appraiser said the problem had to be more than a year old. <br /> From the start USAA was professional getting documentation. Many companies pay little on and 'old' problem. I have not been able to crawl or get under the house because of orthopedic problems for years. We trusted Astro. to do their job. <br /> We had evidence that in the past, anything needing repair or upgrade in the structure we addressed even if we needed loans. <br /> USAA realized that we had trusted the paid professional who had either lied or not really crawled under the entire structure. <br /> So, their clause 'unwitnessed and unknown' was fulfilled and they are helping us with costs. We have had to move out for 3 months to gut the home and they have given us a per diem. They have paid for the POD in our front yard. <br /> Our total damages will be around 80,000 to repair and then replace as it was. <br /> USAA has committed to a third of that so far pending final details. <br /> My suggestion to home owners. TODAY take pictures of everything and under the foundation. Keep detailed notes of any upgrades or repairs you make for tax and insurance purposes. keep copies of any official inspections by anyone of your attic, basement, walls. Get an official printout and opinion of your Flood Plain status online. <br /> One challenge: The contractors are doing very good work, the city is keeping them up to code, but they are horrible about keeping a clear separation of their receipts for us and other work. We might have been able to close our with USAA on the total damages a month faster........that is not USAA's fault. Be prepared for lots of days where no work happen <br />"

"Designed the "new" home. Had plans drawn out. Selected the right subcontractors and supervised them all. Tore the house down to the studs. Reconfigured the house. Build 2 additions. Build all custom cabinetry in the kitchen, the three bathrooms and closet. Built an island in the kitchen with cabinets. Installed all floors (wood and porcelain tiles). Changed all windows and doors, including the beautiful front door with an elliptical transom; matched the transom curve in all hallways. Stained all wood windows and doors. Changed AC /Heat, plumbing and electricity. You name it they did it! We just love the house it's a new beautiful home. They did a fantastic job. I would strongly recommend them for general remodeling and for kitchen and bath remodel."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Marksville, LA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
