"We got a quote in August on the spot, for tree trimming. We accepted the bid, even after they said it wouldn't be until beginning of October before they could get to it. We heard good things about them, so figured we could wait. I called again at the end of November, (now that all the leaves are down and raked) They said for sure middle of December at the latest. Now this is MY SECOND call in January to find out where they were at. I thought I was the customer. REALLY, no call to say you are busy?? She proceeded to say I was rude, and, maybe I was. The tone of her voice said it all. VERY poor communication, and my guess, it comes directly from the person answering the phones. I guess I will never know how to rate them. After that comment, I hung up."

Palm tree stump removal costs $175 to $550, with pricing dependent on stump diameter and root complexity. Larger stumps with extensive root systems command higher fees. Grinding, which shreds the stump below ground level, is more economical than complete extraction. Your future landscaping intentions should guide your decision between these approaches. Discuss both methods with your tree service provider to determine which best suits your needs and budget.
Permit regulations for palm tree removal vary considerably between municipalities. Local governments charge $40 to $200 for removal authorization, with fees varying based on tree characteristics and local ordinances. Protected species may require additional documentation or expert assessment. Contact your local planning department or building authority before scheduling removal to understand specific requirements and avoid potential penalties for unauthorized tree removal.
Healthy, desirable palm varieties occasionally have resale value, though finding buyers willing to handle transplantation can prove challenging. Depending on tree size and complexity, transplanting services cost between $400 and $5,000. While selling might offset some expenses, realistic expectations are important as the transplant market fluctuates significantly. Contact local landscapers or nurseries to gauge interest before committing to this approach.
Palm tree removal duration varies based on tree dimensions and site conditions. Smaller palms under 30 feet require just a few hours, while larger specimens may need a full day or more. Factors like proximity to structures, access limitations, and weather conditions can extend timeframes. Professional crews work systematically to ensure safety throughout the process, so flexibility in scheduling helps accommodate any unexpected challenges.
Palm trees growing near utility lines present serious safety concerns. Contact your local municipality to determine if assistance programs exist for trees threatening public infrastructure. Professional tree services with utility line experience should handle these removals, as they understand proper safety protocols and coordination requirements. Never attempt to trim or remove trees near power lines yourself, as this presents extreme danger of electrical injury.
Standard homeowners' policies often exclude routine palm tree removal costs. However, if a storm or covered incident damages your palm tree, causing it to fall or threaten structures, insurance may contribute toward removal expenses. Coverage generally applies when the tree damages insured property or blocks essential access. Review your specific policy details and thoroughly document the tree's condition if filing a claim. For elective removal of healthy trees, budget for out-of-pocket expenses.
