"The job went very well. This was my first experience with a full roof replacement and we were quite nervous not knowing what to expect and what expense we were facing. Arone Exteriors came highly recommended so we reached out... Joe and his team were very professional, extremely responsive and on time by the minute they quoted. Also, pricing was very fair and no-nonsense and we felt we were being treated honestly and up front all the way through. In fact, I felt Joe and team wen over and above on many aspects of the job and the quote was the quote (to the penny). Joe also recommended a specific color roofing that was spot on exactly what we wanted and this provided a beautiful result! The job site was left clean and neat each day and left virtually no interruption at my home or in my neighborhood. In the end, I'm VERY pleased with the job they did and highly recommend Joe and Arone Exteriors. I'll be calling back Joe back for future work as needed for sure!!"

"Ted was not only prompt in estimating the job but also in the completion of the job. He noticed two other minor issues with previous roofing job done by another company and repaired those as well. He answered phone calls and emails promptly and performed the work exactly when and how he said he would. I am very glad to know the quality of Ted's work and to know that I can call on him for any future roofing needs. <br />"

"Excellent service, high quality craftmanship, superlative personal interactions and the kind of integrity in business relationships that are like a breath of fresh of air. For example: the roof ridge was open for ridge cap installation, rain arrived earlier than forecasted, the crew remained on roof for over an hour in the rain to close up the ridge - attic remained dry. We wish we had more roofing work we could hire them to do."

"We've used PBS before for a basement remodel. On the first of the two occasions in question - 2 years ago - our rear gutters started making a buzzing sound when the wind blew from the side of the house. It was very loud and annoying - sleep-denyingly so. It was mid-summer and T-storms were coming constantly so I texted PBS owner, Pete Ceraldi, and gave him the scoop. He had a crew to our place within 2 days to put everything in order. Golden. Jump to this year (2017). 3 Feet of snow had fallen within a week and then mid-60s temps were making waste of Mother Nature's thick, white blanket. The quick melting caused snow and ice to slide swiftly off of our roof ripping our gutters down in the process. Another text to Pete - he responded same day - from New Zealand, on vacation! That was on a Sunday. By Wednesday he (still in NZ) had a contractor crew to our place to pull all the gutters down, clean them up, and re-install. Twice Golden."

"These guys are great! They showed up when they said they would and completed the job on time. The crew is very professional, are very careful and they clean up afterwards. They did everything they were supposed to do. I had them install the zinc anti-fouling strips on the top of the roof too. They gave me a very competitive price and honored the price with no surprises. I highly recommend Clayton and Sons."

"Outside/In Construction has done an OUTSTANDING job on each of the projects they have done for me. They provided me a very detailed job description for each project; they staffed each job with experienced carpenters; and they communicated with me constantly as they worked. The original decks and steps/landings to my dock were simple wood and 1st-generation Trex construction -- Outside/In converted this to very high-quality Trex, surrounded by great-looking LED lights. As for the hardwood floors -- well, the floor material was dark bamboo, and the end result is spectacular. These were all large jobs (total cost of well over $100,000), and the costs were managed very well. The largest projects were treated as fixed-price jobs, which meant that I would expect Outside/In to completely finish the job as described in the estimate, down to the last detail, with no additional costs. And they did so -- every time. Some of the jobs couldn't be estimated in advance (the rot repairs, for example), so we treated these jobs as Time & Material, which meant that the specific tasks would depend on what we found, and that I would pay costs as they occurred. And it turns out that this arrangement went very, very well -- primarily because the Outside/In carpenters communicated so well, and they were so good at recognizing and resolving problems. So, yeah -- if you want to get your job done -- and be very satisfied with the results -- I'd recommend this company. I have been very pleased with their work since day 1."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Meredith, NH

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
