"Nixon and his worker worked straight for 5 hours moving 4 rooms of very difficult and heavy furniture. They then went on to repair a desk and hang a very heavy old mirror. They were wonderful. They are planning on returning in the spring to do some outside garden and yard work. I now know who to call when I need anything and everything done in my house."

Customers say: Quick response

"Nathan does tremendous work, at a fair price, and in a timely manner. We had a section of our exterior rot out under our siding and he made the necessary repairs with a quick turn around, and also took steps to mitigate the risk of this issue occuring again. We would recommend Nathan to our friends and family any day."

Small jobs welcome

"Exceptional work! I sent in my request for the job and they came within a day and a half, got the job done in just a few hours. They are also open to all your opinions and critiques. Their customer service and punctuality was really great. It took me and my family days and hours to try and do the job ourselves, but Mastak are pros. My doors look so good! Thank you so much!"

Small jobs welcome

"We had a great experience working with John from Happy Wife installing custom closet doors in our master bedroom. We received four quotes, and John stood out as the only contractor who offered a reasonable price while still delivering high-quality work and keeping the existing structure of our closet intact, while other contractors suggested unnecessary structural changes. John took the time to walk us through the entire process and made sure the doors came out exactly how we envisioned. He even upgraded the quality of the doors to make them more sturdy and durable. He was professional, transparent, and great to work with from start to finish. The craftsmanship is excellent and the doors completely transformed the space. I look forward to using his for future home reno projects. Highly recommend! "

FAQs for doors (exterior) installation and replacement projects in Milford, CT

Modern steel doors incorporate protective coatings and finishes that significantly reduce rust potential. These treatments create effective moisture barriers when properly maintained. Small scratches or damage should be promptly addressed with touch-up paint to prevent moisture from reaching the underlying metal.

Doors in coastal or high-humidity environments benefit from additional protective measures and more frequent inspection. With proper care, most steel doors resist corrosion for decades.

Steel doors provide superior resistance against forced entry attempts compared to fiberglass alternatives. The inherent strength of steel creates a formidable barrier that resists impacts and tampering more effectively than composite materials.

While high-quality fiberglass doors offer reasonable security, steel provides an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and structural integrity. For maximum protection, look for steel doors with reinforced strike plates and multi-point locking systems.

Most manufacturers provide warranties covering manufacturing defects for periods ranging from five to 15 years, depending on the product line and quality tier. Hardware components often carry separate warranty coverage, often for shorter durations. Installation services may include workmanship guarantees covering proper fitting and operation. Always review warranty documentation carefully to understand coverage limitations and maintenance requirements that might affect warranty validity.

Provided your existing wood frame remains structurally sound and properly aligned, professional installers can often adapt a steel door to fit. The process requires careful measurement and potentially minor modifications to accommodate the new door's specifications. The frame must provide adequate support for the heavier steel door construction. A qualified installer will evaluate your current frame's condition and recommend appropriate adjustments to ensure proper function and security.
