The rooftop solar boom started in California during the energy crisis of 2001. Barry Cinnamon founded Akeena Solar that year in Silicon Valley, which grew to be the largest residential installer in the last decade with over 10,000 solar customers in California, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Colorado and Hawaii. Akeena partnered with the Westinghouse Electric Company to create Westinghouse Solar in 2010, and then merged with an overseas energy company in 2012. After his success at Akeena and Westinghouse, Barry Cinnamon started Cinnamon Solar in 2012 with several other Valley solar experts. Their passion is to develop residential solar power systems optimized to produce the most electricity for the lowest price. They also recommend and assist customers with appropriate Energy Efficiency (EE) measures to help reduce electric consumption even more. To keep costs down, Cinnamon Solar only works in the Santa Clara County area and installs standardized crystalline silicon panels and microinverter systems.

"When the house goes completely black and subsequently, our entire solar system shuts down, one's anxiety level suddenly goes hay wire. Really?? This can't be happening. So, I contacted Cinnamon Energy Systems, my solar installer, and spoke to Paras Shah explaining that I had experienced a total outage; no electricity from my solar panels and no electricity from PG&E. Within 20 minutes, Paras dispatched Jonathan Munoz to my location to troubleshoot the problem. Jonathan recognized the problem immediately. A circuit breaker had been tripped. He reset the tripped breaker and the power was restored. We were so grateful. However, on the following day (Saturday) we noticed our solar system was not working so we texted Jonathan about the issue. Promptly, he indicated that he thought it might be due to a faulty inverter and a replacement was ordered. In addition to the new inverter, he recommended that the BUI (backup interface), be replaced as well. Once the replacement orders were placed and confirmation was received that the units had been shipped, Yvette Cisneros, their Service Coordinator, promptly scheduled the installation date with us. She was very accommodating and considered our schedules when making the scheduled installation appointment. Installation was set for 3/24/25 between 1pm - 3pm. From start to finish, Yvette did a great job keeping us updated. It was a relief knowing that she was always on top of things, allowing us to feel at ease. When Frank Teague arrived, the lead tech, we found him to be very knowledgeable, approachable, patient and willing to answer all of our questions and concerns regarding the installation. He walked us through each step thoroughly and as we watched, we could tell he was exceptionally skilled. Soon after, Emett arrived to assist Frank especially when the heavier of the 2 units needed to be mounted in place. All in all, the entire process was very seamless -- Everything worked perfectly on the first try! We want to thank the entire Cinnamon Energy team for being so attentive and ensuring customer service remains a top priority."

Northwest Pacific Heating and Air Conditioning (NWP) is a family owned business that has been operating locally for over 30 years. We pride ourselves in quality customer service, customer satisfaction, and helping to improve the environment by recommending and selling energy efficient products. We work hard to be able to offer our customers top quality name brand products at an affordable price. Please take a moment of your time to learn what NWP might be able to offer you today! Additional DBA - Northwest Pacific. Additional phone - (866) 671-4822.

"NWP installed a new furnace in my home, for which they overcharged me by $3,379, based on the contract they wrote. The job was "completed" in early October, when they demanded the final payment. I asked if they had received approval on the final inspection for the permit, and they assured me they had. In February, while at the Permit Office in Vallejo, I was informed that I still had an open permit with them, that they had not had the final inspection. That permit will soon expire, if it has not already. By that time, one of the ducts they had installed had fallen down and torn; the wires leading to the thermostat had also fallen down across the door. I called and asked them to come out to fix, and to schedule the final inspection. They never showed. When I called to ask where they were, they rescheduled. At that later date, they sent out a technician to survey the problems; he promised he would return the following Thursday to fix them, and would schedule the inspection for Friday morning. None of these things occurred. I texted him and received no reply. So, at this point I have a working furnace, drooping and torn ducts, falling wires, no final inspection, and am missing one register because it was taken to match the size by the technician. I am moving to file a complaint with the Contractors State License Board. I would recommend you find someone else for the job. P.S. Just discovered that their license has been suspended by the CSLB for failure to post a bond."

FAQs for solar panels for electric system repair projects in Millbrae, CA

Solar panels are fairly low-maintenance, but they do need occasional attention. A quick wash a couple of times a year and a yearly professional inspection help maintain efficiency. Watch for cracked glass, loose wiring, or hail damage; small fixes cost far less than waiting until output drops. If a panel is badly shattered, replacement—handled by a licensed pro—is often the smarter call.

Most panels last 25 to 50 years, so replacement is rare. Swap them out only when output drops noticeably, the warranty has run its course, or storm damage makes repairs impractical. Track your production data; if efficiency continues to slip even after minor fixes, it’s time to consult a solar installation professional and consider replacing a panel.

Homeowners are accountable for solar panel repairs unless their system is under a leasing agreement. Warranty coverage may reduce repair expenses for specific components. Warranty protection covers repairs when panels fail due to installation errors or unexplained issues. However, if a unit cracks due to an impact, the homeowner is responsible.

Always contact your installer and review your warranty before initiating repairs. Many manufacturers offer warranties ranging from 10 to 20 years. Inverters have a 10-year warranty, panels carry a minimum five-year workmanship warranty, and the overall system is protected for 25 years.
