"Prestige Roofing was fantastic! I would hire them again in a minute. They were punctual, thorough in their work and followed up with us after the job was done. The quote was broken down in extensive detail so there were no surprises and any questions were answered expediently. I would recommend them highly for any roof repair needs!"

"The whole precess went very smoothly. Brian O'Neill from Viola Roofing came out (this was Fall 2018), went up on the roof, and gave me the best (lowest) estimate of the three contractors I called. He is a straight shooter. Since the weather was mild, his crew was able to remove the old roof and install the new one in mi-January of 2019. I requested that they also look at a minor gutter problem while the work was ongoing, and Brian had it fixed for no additional charge! It's now been a year and the roof is holding up great and looks great too. I highly recommend this company and will definitely call them again the next time I need a contractor."

"We just had our roof replaced by Global Roofing. It was amazing to work with Andrea and Freddy. We couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience! We got several quotes for our roofing job, changed our mind about the material along the way (went from metal to asphalt), and Andrea and Freddy were great throughout the process. Global Roofing had the best recommendations (one of the reasons we chose them), and after working with them we know why! Communication was amazing, if there were any delays due to ordering supplies like the skylights we were immediately informed, and the final scheduling for the project was also easy. I was at work all day while they were actually doing the roof, and other than the new beautiful roof on my house I was not able to tell that any contractors were at my house all!!! They covered the house in tarps while taking the old shingles off, and the entire surrounding area of my house was spotless when they left! And the Final product looks great! A truly great company, and I am looking forward to hire them for future projects!"

"Steve and his team did an amazing job removing 4 layers of roofing and installing a new roof from my house! I can’t believe they did the entire job from start to finish in 1 day! They did a thorough job cleaning up afterwards and even fixed some additional items while they were doing the roof for no additional charge. I will be hiring Eagle build and remodel again soon!"

"The entire process from initial quotes, planning, installation and clean-up went well. I found Brett, the owner, to be very professional and honest. He spent the extra time to explain the various options along with the pros and cons. His pricing was very reasonable. I felt when I chose Baron Home Improvement, it was likely I was going to be extremely satisfied. From the start as I was comparing other roofing companies, I felt very comfortable with Brett's approach of doing business. Brett did a more thorough job inspecting my roof and assessing my needs. From other reviews here on Angies List, I found them to be spot on. Brett and his crew work extremely hard without slowing down. He had a separate team to install my two new skylights. Because my new skylights are different dimensions, I expected some additional work to paint or plaster the interior. When the skylights were installed, they looked perfect. I was pleasantly surprised that no additional interior work would need to be performed. The carpenter was methodical in his approach, which did end up saving me time afterwards. As far as the roofing job, the dumpster arrived as Brett scheduled. The crew arrived the next day. They started promptly and worked tirelessly from start to finish, including the cleanup. There were essentially three roof sections (main house, addition and the garage). Brett checked in multiple times throughout the day. At the end of the day, I found few stains from the debris that I pointed out to Brett. He was so concerned about my satisfaction, he drove to the nearby hardware store and purchased a cleaning product. He made sure to clean those areas himself as his crew was wrapping up the project. Furthermore he helped me snap together a loose vinyl siding and offered to clean additional spots. I certainly appreciate Brett going the extra mile for his customers. Brett prides himself to stay in communication with his customers throughout the process. From this experience, I am sure to call him back for any future home improvement projects. I will also refer him to friends and family as well! I fell you cannot go wrong with hiring Baron Home Improvement."

"This project went well. Jeff assessed a problem with our roof and determined that what was needed was some sealant around the chimney. We thought we had a problem of larger scope than that and he was fair - did not try to oversell us on products or services we didn't need - something we really appreciate. He came back and did the work and went the extra mile to check for issues around other openings in the roof (exhaust outlets, etc.). Nice guy who knows his business. We'll work with Jeff again."

"Rich and his crew were great. When the garage door frame ended up being more work than expected, he let me know and definitely gave me a deal. He was great to work with. Other roofers were trying to get me to do a full roof replacement for nearly $20k. Rich was honest and said the roof didn't need to be fully replaced. Only a small section with some wood rot. His quote for the whole roof was much more reasonable too. If I need to do the whole roof, **** be the only one I call."

"Flynn Roofing did a five star job on our Hingham residence. Stephen was on the job with the crew. Very helpful and professional When I had decisions to make. The job was complicated as structural repairs were needed and a skylight replacement. Not a problem at all. Cleanup was amazing. My yard looked better than before they arrived. Flynn Roofing was timely, efficient, and reasonably priced! Great workers."

"They did a terrific job.  They were clearly lower.  They actually did a fancier job than I even specified.  I sent out the specifications I wanted.  But to meet the 30 year guarantee for the warranty they had to even put more ice & shield on it than I felt necessary.  They just included that in their price because they wanted to meet all the requirements for the warranty, a 30 year guarantee.  They were authorized.  In other words, a roofer has to be authorized first to be able to give the guarantee you know what I’m saying.  Then the roofing company has a stringent requirement of everything that must be done.  So it was even better than I wanted.  And their price was clearly the best.  There was lower prices from other companies, who wasn't guaranteed by anybody.  You know what I'm saying.  I had like 3 more quotes than I intended.  I didn't want to annoy a lot of people.  So I contacted 3.  They were kinda slow.  So then I contacted 3 more and then all the sudden all of them came and did an estimate.  So I got 6 estimates.  Because it didn't seem like the first ones were like moving.  So anyways I got 6 estimates and they were hands down the best.  There were one or two ones slightly cheaper but they weren't gonna follow my specifications, you know what I'm sayin' and it wouldn't be guaranteed because they weren't authorized to give a guarantee.  H&R roofing met the qualifications.  I got the guarantee sent to me by the warranty company.  It's pro-rated after 15, you know.  They went above and beyond.  I'm a structural engineer and I know a lot about roofing.  So I know exactly how I want it.  And for somebody who doesn't, they don't even know what to ask for.  Just ask for I want a guarantee by the roofing manufacturer.  And then, the things they don't even know about will be done because the roofing manufacturer requires these things to be done in order to have the guarantee.  So therefore someone who doesn't know anything, the one thing they should say is I want the roof guaranteed by the roofing manufacturer and then they can step back because the roofing manufacturer looks at their supply list and the stuff that was delivered.  So therefore someone who doesn't know anything would get it done right.  I have to say there's no short coming whatsoever.  The one short coming, I mean they did their best. It was a very, very hot day and they put tarps over all the shrubs and stuff, but it was such a hot day that the tarps got so warm that they burnt the top of some of the shrubs.  It was like new growth, you know it's the Spring.  I don't know what could have been done.  The only thing that could have been done was don't do it in late Spring.  They finished it 2 weeks ago.  And the thing is I was very surprised that the shrubs were burnt.  It's something, you can't spray water on the tarps because there's a lot of crud coming down and you'd make soup you know what I'm sayin'. So I don't know what you could do to solve that.  It's a time of the year issue.  It's also the shrubs and flowers that were around.  I'd recommend them to anybody. Their price was distinctly less.  I mean some of the prices I had were almost $10,000 for the same job."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Milton Village, MA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
