"I hired Power Up Electrical Contractors to install a Generac generator and transfer switch. On 2/3/23, they completed the install and everything appears to operate properly. However, as part of the install, I was charged $500.00 for a city permit. When I asked for the permit to ensure I had the appropriate documentation from the county for insurance purposes, I was told that permit would be filed after the fact. Chris informed me that he would bring it when he returned, after the gas line was installed. I contacted him after the gas line was installed and he indicated he would be out on that Thursday, but he was a no-show. On 2/27, I contacted the county to check if a permit had been issued, only to find that no permit was ever pulled. In addition, I discovered the permit only costs $55. Had I known that, I never would have agreed to pay $500 for the permit. My fault for not doing the research, but $445 for labor to get a permit is ridiculous. I reached out to them again to request a refund, so I could go get the permit, but no response. Either way, I paid $500 for nothing. Something to think about if you plan to do business with Power Up."
