"We hired Lecla Home Improvements LLC for new roof, chimney cap, major water damaged bedroom repair ( ceiling , walls & carpet) and for replacement windows etc. Our home was badly damaged by the May 15th tornado to the roof, bedroom, kitchen and widows. We had other contractors bid for the job. When my wife & I met with Luis Clavijo, we felt he is the guy to do the job. Luis was punctual and was very professional and extremely knowledgeable about his field of work and in explaining to us in detail of the scope of the work involved, above all he is very humble. Since we have to work with the Insurance company, Luis prepared a very detail breakdown of his estimate to submit to the insurance company and met with the adjuster at the house to go over the breakdown to agree on the final price. Not only he and his team were punctual, he also has great communication and sense of urgency by returning phone calls or e-mails promptly. His team captain Henry was at site all the time during the roof installation and bedroom repairs and for other jobs. Our roof has multiple steep areas with unusual roof architecture with multiple peaks, valleys and dorm. His team was very efficient and has done the job in 2 days and we are very pleased with the outcome. When I asked Luis for some other small jobs that need to be done at the house, not related to damage by tornado, he was very accommodative and instructed Henry to take care of it and Henry did a great job. He did such a nice job on the roof and bedroom etc, we decided to change additional windows at our house that were not part of the tornado damage, totaling the no of replacement windows to be 20. The Job was done very well and wouldn’t hesitate to hire him again. I would highly recommend Lecla Home Improvements LLC to any roof, home improvement or window replacement job."

"I was blown away by Weathertite Roofing in Bethlehem. I used them in November. I called and was surprised to reach a polite office manager after one ring (which is always the case whenever I call). They operate out of a well-run office with several employees. The company has been in business for over 20 years, it is a very smooth, well-oiled machine. The owner, Scott Fennelly, evaluates the job and comes prepared with satellite images and measurements of the roof. On the scheduled roofing day, an army of polite, hard-working, cheerful, considerate, men arrive punctually very early and my small roof was done in one day. The permits, dumpster, materials etc. are all taken care of, and the clean up is done with a magnet to pick up stray nails which can get in car tires or lawn mowers. A foreman is assigned to the job. If only all companies worked like this! It is an unbelievable hands- on, old -fashioned well-managed company with strong customer and work values. Their prices are reasonable and compatible with other companies. After the roof was done, I noticed the area around Bethlehem has many of their signs out in front of homes they work on. When I raved about them, it turned out Weathertite is well-known in the community to be excellent. There is a reason the company does most roofs around here! They really went the extra mile! I would give them more stars if I could! Truly, do not hesitate to use them."

"I wanted my roof to look better and needed someone to kill off some moss, lichens and darkening stains on the roof. The crew did a great job. Very professional. Cleaned up perfectly at the end. I really appreciate they used non-chlorine bleach to kill all growths. Living on a lake, it was very important to me that they not add any phosphates or chlorine to the lake water. They even patched a roof leak! I would heartily recommend Roof Renew Pros."

"Flying Colors replaced our old roof and gutters. We had them install gutters with guards and paint our exterior trim. Steven and his workers are professional and courteous. They complete the job quickly and cleanly. They are flexible with scheduling as well as with working around other contractors. Steven, the owner, is easy to communicate with via email and text. We are very pleased with their work and appreciate their reasonable pricing. We highly recommend all of their services."

"I rarely write an online review, but the work done on my house was so high quality that I feel compelled to write something.  Simply put, anyone who is going to have work done on their roof should hire Advanced Roofing.  The owner of Advanced Roofing is Dave Hand.  Dave was very quick to take an initial look at my roof and give an assessment of what the next steps should be.  We scheduled this consultation through his wife Kathy, who I believe is the office manager of Advanced Roofing.  She is very competent, and was helpful throughout the entire process. <br /> It was readily apparent from Dave's initial assessment that he was both an honest person and knew his trade inside and out.  We came to the conclusion that the best course of action was to install a new roof.  My house is 5,300 square feet and has a complex roof structure.  Dave guided me through what the job would entail, to the point that I felt comfortable that he and his team could handle the job.  He provided me a quote for the job that was very reasonable, along with a  comprehensive list of the work that would be performed. <br /> Within a short period of time, we scheduled a time for Dave and his crew to start the job.  The foreman of the on-site work, whose name is Freddy, was indispensable throughout the process.  I was very lucky to have these two professionals guide the work.  The job itself was done incredibly efficiently, but with great attention to detail.  It took roughly a week for the roof to be installed -- a very short period of time given the size and complexity of the roof, along with the fact that there were two days of rain.  The crew made sure that after every day of work they thoroughly cleaned up the worksite.  In addition, they arrived promptly in the morning and worked the full day through.  Dave, Freddy, and their crew were very respectful of my family and were happy to answer any questions we had.  I got regular updates on progress throughout the day from Dave.  He was on top of things the entire time. <br /> The roof installation was completed yesterday, and it looks fantastic.  It makes my whole house look remarkably better.  Along with being a true professional, someone who has honed his craft over three decades, Dave is a quality human being who is great to talk to.  My whole family enjoyed being around him.  I can say the same thing about his whole crew.  <br /> I was concerned that such a big project would inevitably bring complications and cost overruns, but neither happened.  Overall, it was the best experience I can remember having with a contractor, and I can not recommend Dave and Advanced Roofing highly enough. <br />"

"Lost some ridgeline shingles during a recent storm. Called a few roofing repair outfits. Albana, in the midst of coronovirus and with a limited crew, made it the next day for the quote AND repair. They really went above and beyond and it was a huge relief to get the job done. However, even if they WEREN'T able to make it the next day, Sonny and Al were fantastic and we'd still recommend them. Professional, quality work. A family business. Will definitely call them again for any roofing needs."

"I had them to redo my whole roof 1.5 year ago and I found a piece of shingle fell off recently. I contacted the owner and they stood behind their work and promise. He quickly scheduled a follow-up and sent his team to fix it in a short period of time. In these days you can easily find any contractors do the work and work away with your money. However once the job is done, you will never see them again when there are any issues. This will not happen to Hi Tech Contracting as they are professional, responsible and trustworthy. Highly recommended!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Monroe, CT

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
