"We found Robert on Angie's list. He was the first contractor to respond to my calls and came out for to give us a quote within a day or two. We really liked his professionalism and personality. So when we received his quote within about 48 hours, we decided to hire him even before the next contractor came to do a quote. Robert came right on time every day. He works alone. He is organized, neat and he cleaned up at the end of each day. He is very detail oriented and he did a great job. When he hung the new cabinet doors he noticed a defect on the surface of one of the doors. I am not sure that my wife or I would have noticed it or even thought it was a problem, but Robert pointed it out to us and said it was not acceptable. He promised to replace the door and explained that it would take a few weeks because it needed to be reordered and then finished. Anyway, Robert came today and replaced the door. I highly recommend Robert."

"It was great working with Joel. He worked with us on every detail of the project. We were limited on the space which made it more changeling for him but he came through with a beautiful red oak corner entertainment cabinet"

"Jon and Kevin were awesome!  They were punctual, professional and clean and tidy!  My furniture was completed covered;  they were meticulous with taping around window frames and glass.  They cleaned up at the end of each day.  The woodwork now looks like it belongs to the rest of the house.  They even  brought back 3 windows from a light finish to a dark finish and now those windows look as if they had always been that colour.  Jon is dedicated to not only making the project go smoothly, but insists on customer satisfaction and will do all he can to make sure that his customers are satisfied and that they know his process, step-by-step.  They provided me a most enjoyable and wonderful experience. <br /> Jon is definitely the "woodwork whisperer"! <br />"

"Shaun of Twin Cities Shelves was great to work with. I had moved into a newer home and wanted the ease of having pull-out shelving in my food pantry, corner lazy-susan cabinet (which was basically unusable) and a couple of lower shelves for pots and pans and plastic storage containers. He was prompt, reliable and significantly less expensive than another local competitor. The shelves are beautiful and I loved his work so much a few months later I decided to have him install one more set of 2 shelves in my dining room area where I stored serving pieces. Having pull-out shelves makes sure you can access and see everything that you have and need. The pantry especially allows me to make sure that I can see what food I have and organize it so that is doesn't spoil or go to waste."

"John, the owner, did the work himself.  He's professional, organized and what stood out  the most was that he really takes pride in his work.  Our deck looks beautiful! <br /> <br />"

"The persone we dealt with did not communciate with us and the contrractor they put us in contact with to do the install and rest of the remodel. We choose a different contractor largerly because of this. We provided data on changes to the design in an E-mail, that she didn't open, and denied receiving when we came in to talk to her. We looked over her shoulder and helped her find the E-mail in her in box. We had previously worked with this company on doing cabinet refacing and had wonderful experience but we worked with another person in that case."

"We are very happy with the results. They came in right on schedule as far what they gave us for a time table. I had gotten the feeling that they were not watching what they were doing. At one point they had to take out the overhead soffit lighting. Part of it extends another 5 or 6 feet out the back of the house but only at the first story level. When they pulled those lights down there was no sheet rock in the areas where the lights were so they had to put those back in. We needed a vapor barrier but they didn’t realize this until I had pointed it out to them. They explained that they hadn’t brought any plastic with them. I showed them I had plastic. He explained that he didn’t have a hammer stapler and I explained that I had a fabric stapler. He then told me that he didn’t have any help and I explained that I would help him. The sheet rock guys came out and the ceiling is a popcorn finish. They came in sprayed there but the cabinets weren’t up yet and he came out too far from the wall. When the cabinets were coming in there were going to be areas without popcorn designs. They did correct everything but it was kind of upsetting. I have a good background in electrical wiring and in the kitchen they had wired all the outlets up to code. When we finally had our new dishwasher installed we were trying it out. When the washer kicked on the overhead lights dimmed. I told him he needed to take some of the load off as it was not distributing the electricity load properly. He did and it worked but he should have been better monitoring the load. Overall they did a good job but I felt that I always had to be here to see what was going on. Sometimes a decision has to be made but some of these decisions could have been made by them. They fixed all issues I had concerns about. Gordon was very helpful and knowledgeable."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Morristown, MN

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
