"I'd used TruGreen in the past is why I chose them for my lawn care. I was originally set up on 4-6 week intervals to accomodate my financial needs. Everything was going as planned until I got a fertilization/weed control treatment & aeration in Sep within a week apart. I didn't realize what happened until I received the bill and contacted them to report a duplicated charge. I was told one of the charges included an aeration treatment and was a one time application indicated in the contract. This was not my understanding and must have been in very small print I could not read. When first asked about doing aeration, it was agreed to revisit in the fall. I was not asked, told or suggested this was being done so I got hit with that bill. Customer Service Rep was useless. Her resolution was to send someone out when I mentioned the service was incomplete since the gate was locked and the technician did not have access to my yard."

"I was told I'd be put on the schedule within 2 weeks to remove a couple small trees and some fallen branches, and I was. I was at work when they showed up but they took care of everything and did a great job. I will definitely call them again for any project that nay come up. I would also strongly recommend them to anyone who needs yard work done."

"First, let me say I interviewed eight landscapers before choosing Outdoor Expressions. Two of the other landscapers didn't listen when I said to avoid hostas and daylilies because of the deer. Another landscaper cost over twice the others and used common plants, nothing outstanding. Yet another landscaper gave me a plan but never provided me with an estimate, despite promising multiple times that he would. <br /> Dan's plan really stood out! First of all, he was the most knowledgeable of all the people I interviewed. He wasn't afraid to share his knowledge, either. He taught me the care of the plants on our property (we are new owners), and he identified the plants/bushes I couldn't. <br /> The plan he provided uses plants that are proven deer-resistant. They are also anything but common. He put in plants that have 3-season color and interest. He chose a tree to replace a diseased tree he had removed that is interesting for its bark, its leaves, and its flowers. It also won't compete with the huge maple tree in the yard. The boxwood he chose are not a common variety and are beautiful! After the initial planting, he sent his crew back to add additional plants. Because we're having an art piece installed, we needed a spotlight, and I wanted another light at a step leading to the front porch. He has people who can do that. <br /> Dan also kept some existing plants and moved other existing plants to better spots. His crew did more mulching than I expected. I have hired them additionally to mulch another area of the yard. They also clean up after themselves. My neighbors are so impressed, they're asking who did my work and want the business card. I can't say enough good things about Outdoor Expressions. They are phenomenal professionals! <br />"

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Mulliken, MI

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
