SSG, or South Shore Gunite Pools, is New England's largest pool builder. We offer building, renovation and maintenance services to residential and commercial clients throughout New England. Headquartered in North Billerica MA, we have been setting the standard for gunite construction and quality swimming pools since 1975. We are shockingly unique in the way that we build, eliminating the uncertainty of relying upon subcontractors and operating with fully in-house employees. This strategy allows us to take full responsibility for our client's projects.
"Complete SCUMBAGS...Worked for months on design and install on new construction home...nothing ever goes according to plan. Once I had line of sight on project completion, I went back to schedule the job and these aholes Ray Varela and Bob Guarino jacked up my price by 5K (within 90 days). This was after several attempts to bait and switch on several quotes...adding here, removing there...trying to inflate the price decrease the scope. I have several quotes documented and will provide evidence to anyone who asks to prove my point...of course these scumbags will dispute my story...but I own the facts. Too many contractor options avail...STAY AWAY FROM SSG!!"

"Dennis was excellent to work with. Very knowledgeable and easy to talk with. His crew was efficient clean and talented. These guys are a great team and really impressed me and all my neighbors as well. I would use them for any of my siding or roofing work in the future. They knocked it out of the park."

Stock tank pools last for 10 years or more with regular maintenance and repairs. The longevity depends largely on how well you care for the pool, including regular water testing, chemical balancing, and prompt attention to any developing issues.
For metal tanks, managing rust is crucial—immediately addressing any scratches or damage to protective coatings helps extend the pool's useful life significantly.
Permit requirements vary by location. Many municipalities don't require permits for temporary structures under a certain water depth, but some areas have specific regulations for any water feature.
If your stock tank pool includes electrical components like pumps or filters, additional permits might be necessary. Contacting your local building department before installation helps avoid potential fines or removal orders.
Yes, stock tank pools can be installed partially in the ground, though this approach requires careful consideration of drainage and structural support. For metal tanks especially, proper protection against ground moisture is essential to prevent accelerated rusting. The added complexity of a semi-buried installation may warrant professional assistance to ensure proper setup and longevity of your investment.
Preventing rust in metal stock tank pools requires proactive maintenance. Remove rust spots early using vinegar and a wire brush, followed by treatment with naval jelly or rust dissolver according to manufacturer instructions. After cleaning the area thoroughly, apply zinc-rich paint to create a protective barrier. Regular water chemistry testing and maintenance help prevent conditions that accelerate corrosion.
