"Marvin was great to work with and we are very happy with the work he and his team did. We wanted a Belgian block curb and brick pathway up to our front steps. I have never used Angi's list before, so I was a little nervous, but Marvin made me feel good about going with him right away. He was transparent about costs, open to suggestions, and great at communicating as to when he'd be here to do the job. They banged out both projects in a day and the work looks great. So happy with the work and would definitely recommend Marvin. "

I’m a reliable construction and maintenance professional with hands-on experience in residential repairs and renovations. I currently work as a maintenance technician for a large property, handling everything from small fixes like lighting and fixtures to larger projects such as laminate flooring, sinks, and vanities.\n\nPreviously, I was a project manager overseeing full kitchen and bathroom gut renovations, while also working hands-on from demo to installation. This gave me a strong understanding of doing jobs efficiently and to a high standard.\n\nI take pride in being detail-oriented and delivering quality results that last. I’m also honest and upfront—if something is outside my expertise, I’ll communicate that clearly. With strong customer service skills, I focus on making every job smooth, professional, and stress-free for the customer. \n\nIf you’re looking for someone reliable, hardworking, and committed to quality, I’m here to help get the job done right.\n\n

"I agreed to replace 2 METAL sprinkler heads. I was billed for 3 PLASTIC heads. I contacted Pacific Lawn several times to correct the invoice and they insisted that I received 3 METAL heads whereas the invoice billed me for 3 PLASTIC. heads. I was not satisfied with their handling of the whole process."

"Very bad investment. $1400 up front to trap foxes. Foxes were all over the yard each night. Scott set the same traps with the same bait and didn't catch foxes for two weeks. Unable to adapt and adjust despite nightly failure. This company is a big money grab with no real level of competence. Scott is just not able. "

"We agreed on a total of $450 for Christmas light installation and a full house gutter cleaning. Between the initial deposit and the day of the light installation, I paid him $350?nearly 80% of the total contract. By mid-April, I was still chasing him to remove the lights, and clean the gutters. Lights started falling off the house. He ignored my messages for over a week. It was only after I demanded a refund and informed him I had to hire someone else that he finally replied, claiming he was "on vacation." I then asked for a partial refund and he said the 80% paid was fair as removing the lights and cleannig the gutters around the house would cost $ 100. This deceptive behaviour confirms what other negative reviews have highlighted. He will offer a good deal, take most of your money and then ignore you. Save your money and hire a professional who actually values their reputation."

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Neptune, NJ

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
