"STL Residential Roofing was on job at 8:00 am. They had tarps around the entire circumference of our home. The supervisor introduced himself in case I had questions. They completed by late afternoon. That evening you couldn’t tell they had been there. The cleanup was thorough. Outstanding"

"I highly recommend Peter and the team at Advanced Roofing and Construction! My roof was catastrophically damaged when a tree was laid across the width of the house in wind shear event, collapsing part of the structure beyond simple repair. Because it’s a mid-century modern house with a roof of unique composition, other roofing companies had never seen or worked with the material and either were not willing to undertake the repair or wanted to change the silhouette to accommodate their preferred materials and methods. This wasn’t the case with Advanced. They were familiar with both the materials and process needed and assured me that it could be fixed. In fact, t required an entire tear-off and they restored the roof better than I could have hoped. Every worker who was at the house was professional and courteous. The efforts made to clean up at the end of each day, even when the job was not yet done, were admirable. And the tradesmen engaged to repair the interior damage were efficient and were true craftsmen. They absolutely gave me my house back."

"Full Service Roofing did an excellent job!! They performed their services in a very efficient time frame and were very neat and cleaned up after they were finished. We had a hard time finding someone to quote this roof replacement because of the steep pitch and we were replacing a shake shingle roof. Full Service Roofing did not hesitate and gave us several options for our replacement. We could not be more pleased!!! We would highly recommend them."

"Chad Venhaus, owner of Matterhorn Exteriors, was 1 of 3 top roofers in the area to answer my call for a free quote. He was the only one to make time in his busy schedule to personally meet with me to fully discuss the details of my project. My new roof was under an insurance claim which Chad handled for me completely. Of the 3 companies, one of which is frequently promoted by a local news station on TV, Chad was the only one detailed enough to cross check every item in the insurance claim AND to catch obvious errors and/or exclusions by the insurance adjuster. Chad's findings ultimately increased our insurance coverage, providing excess funds for us to put towards additional work needed on the roof. He even connected me with an HVAC company when my regular stood me up, to the point of coordinating with the HVAC company to ensure their jobs aligned on the day of the roof replacement. Most people would expect you to figure out how to coordinate multiple jobs despite your lack of experience in such things. Chad kept in contact with me every step of the way and even sat down with us to ensure the full warranty was properly filed after the roof was completed. I highly recommend Matterhorn Exteriors to anyone in need of exterior home repair/replacement. This was one of the very few home contractor experiences that was smooth and trouble free from beginning to end. THANK YOU MATTERHORN EXTERIORS!"

"Work was done in a day to my satisfaction. they missed cutting off a shingle on the end as it was left hanging so had to go on the roof and cut it myself. Other than that, everything was fine, and even that was not a huge deal to me."

"Donna stopped over while estimating our neighbors roof to replace. We had hail damage also. Their quote came in as expected. They met with the adjuster here at our home during the inspection. On top of everything. Coordinated everything. Delivered materials, put on in two days (big house), cleaned up everything, and we had 2 different people inspect and walk the roof. Donna kept up with us along the way - insurance paid. Gorgeous new roof. What a blessing. Easy peasy! J. Bulthuis"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in New-memphis, IL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
