"Steve arrived promptly to change out a faucet and to assess a shower head that was too high for us to safely reach. Steve replaced our laundry room faucet efficiently and solidly. Such a relief to have one that works properly. Steve recommended an alternate fix to our high-reach shower head. He will look through the hardware options and see what Graham can provide. At least, we know the direction to pursue."

"I would steer clear. 1. Pay with check discount is not guaranteed. We had a service done in mid-February, and were mistakenly charged the full amount, even though we were told we would receive a 3% discount. We were then told they would mail a check. No luck. Debbie has my Zelle QR code and info and still refuses to refund the overcharge. She would rather argue than honor her discount. 2. Does not stand behind their "100% Money-Back Satisfaction Guarantee on Service." We had an error code on our furnace. Tech came out and diagnosed as a bad inducer. We believed him and purchased a new one. They installed it right away and also did an inspection. Total was about $1100. Steep, but not bad since the tech said that should get us a few more years on an 18 y.o. furnace. The inspection went well and we were happy. Next day the error code was back. Different tech came out and diagnosed as a control board issues. $900 to fix. Ouch. He was at the house for a long time to do the diag. After asking for detailed information, Debbie refused to give any insights and lied to us about not being charged any mark up on the inducer. At this point I was definitely not satisfied! The more questions I asked to get to the truth, the more Debbie blamed us for the age of our furnace. I asked for a refund of the service and told her she could come get the part once we received the refund. This was because we STILL had not gotten the check discount she promised us! The part was charged at $600+ so the remaining amount for the service is $475 which includes the inspection that failed to find the control board issue. That and the check discount comes to $500. on a nearly $1100 bill. But Debbie would rather blame us for asking questions and not being grateful for the time they spent NOT FIXING THE ISSUE! Debbie lied to me when she said she would give the refund and come get the inducer. She has gone back on her word and refuses to make it right according to her own posted "promise." Debbie can send the refund amount through Zelle or bring a check when she picks up the inducer to resolve this issue. The BBB has now directed me to the IL Attorney General."

"Really shady scam operating out of Aurora, IL area. Called them asking them to send a tech for furnace tuneup and who is qualified to install a T10+ thermostat kit to furnace, AC, and humidifier. It wasn't that I couldn't handle it myself, but rather to have Honeywell warranty the unit, a certified tech must install it. Well, the tech they sent, Brandon, not only wasn't qualified to install the kit, but also had no knowledge of this kit at all. But after looking at the box, said it would cost about $20-$30 to install on top of the $149 furnace tuneup. I agreed saying I can afford the $200 total. Since I had another contractor working on our 2nd floor, I let Brandon work in the basement on the HVAC equipment. When I came back down to the first floor a couple hours later, I saw the Buchner truck outside still. When I went to the basement, I found Brandon sitting on the floor reading the manual. Mind you, he never said he was charging more than the $200 I approved. He had apparently been unable to get the humidifier to power on. It seems he had decided to change the humidifier to being powered by the furnace, which is not compliant with Honeywell authorized procedure for that unit. When he had Honeywell support on speakerphone, the specifically told him he couldn't power it from furnace, and to reconnect it to the transformer it was originally on. After ending the call, he still didn't tell me he was charging me more than $200, so I went back up to the contractor two floors up. Finally, four hours later, I had to go to work. At five hours, he hands my wife an invoice for $900 for the work. But that's not all, he also tells us the humidifier board is dead, even though it had been running with no issue prior to Brandon arriving. Of course I refuse to pay the $900 invoice and call Buchner. When they have the Service Manager call me, he tells me that Brandon never said it was $20-$30 to install the kit and that Brandon is competent and wouldn't damage the humidifier from working on it. The manager finally agreed to send his other tech, Tony, to diagnose the equipment, no charge only after I inquired. Tony comes out later in the week with my wife home. He determines that "Brandon did not land one of the humidifier wires correctly and that the equipment is now online. But during conversation with my wife calls her a liar when she says that Brandon never said he was charging us beyond the $200 we agreed to until he handed her the $900 invoice. About a week later, I get an updated invoice from Buchner in the mail for $181, which I called them to pay immediately. I figured they must have agreed that Brandon had made one or more mistakes, and was doing the right thing. Oh was I wrong! A couple weeks later, I'm trying to clean up the loose humidistat wires that are supposedly not connected anymore because it is now wirelessly digital instead of wired analog. WRONG! As soon as two wires touched, I see an electrical arc, and my new thermostat goes dark. I immediately call Buchner, but the answering service says there is a note in their system to not service our address. She tells me to call Monday, which I do. The primary secretary tells me they "discounted" the work they did and there was a note to no longer service our address and I would have to speak to the Service Manager, which I agreed to do. Well, several days, and no call from them to my phone and no call to wife's phone. So I contact my contractor who is a licensed electrician and plumber, and also fixed a few pre-existing electrical issues in the house already. With his guidance, we identified the problem to be a blown fuse on the furnace board. So to recap: ● Poor customer service ● Unqualified HVAC Technician ● Attempt to commit fraud (charging customer while they teach themselves how to do their job) ● Attempt to charge nearly 5x the amount they were initially approved for without renewed consent ● Dishonest techs and Service Manager"

"Our furnace went out on a Saturday evening, and we called Sunday first thing Sunday morning. Ish arrived Sunday afternoon and quickly got heat working by bypassing the thermostat. He returned Monday to install the new system, explained everything clearly, and made sure the house was spotless before leaving. Extremely thorough, professional, and very reasonable—especially on the weekend. Highly recommend!"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Newark, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
