"Rescue Roofing came out asap to assess the job, they got roofers and masonry specialists out asap to fix our problem. Not only was an excellent job done (no leaks yet!) but communications were great and the bill was not as high as I thought it would be! Very Very pleased with Rescue Roofing and recommend them to anyone needing roof or chimney repair."

"The roof replacement went very well. We have a ranch with a large steep roof. After getting 4 bids we decided on Muth because they had the most complete quote, detailing all the GAF products they were going to use to get our Gold Pledge lifetime warranty. Because of the size and complexity of our roof it took around 5 days to complete. The fact that we had dry weather was a plus. From Chris, who was our salesman, to the guys who replaced the roof (hot days) they were all very professional. Clean up afterwards was also very good. This is a family owned and operated business and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a quality roof replacement. They are not the cheapest out there but they provide high quality results. As the saying goes “you get what you pay for”."

"We had some serious roof leaks at our leased office and warehouse space. GKG Roofing was recommended to us by our Heating & AC Contractor. He said not to call anyone else…and he was right. I was immediately impressed with George's evaluation of our situation and the strategy he recommended to us for handling repairs. To be sure, the cost was a bit higher than we were hoping for, but the membrane roof and flashing had completely deteriorated (it was raining inside our building during heavy storms). GKG was willing to work with us and arrange payment terms so that the work could be done properly instead of piecemeal. Lonnie May, their crew leader, arrived promptly as promised and within two days the repairs were completed. Their guys kept everything clean and organized during their repairs and we didn't have any interruptions to our our work schedules. A week later, we had a huge thunderstorm and the next day we noticed a couple small leaks crop up. We called and left a message for Lonnie about them. The next day he came back and handled it quickly for us and we’ve not had any problems since. What a relief it is to have this work out of the way. We no longer panic and run around moving furniture and putting towels down everywhere any time it rains. I recommend GKG Roofing to anyone who needs things done properly and professionally and wants good customer care afterwards."

"The project went well from beginning to end. The quotation process was efficient and low-pressure. The price was competitive when compared to other LICENSED contractors. The installation crew was competent and the cleanup was done well. The owner was out several times during the day and made himself available to answer questions. The only problem was some scratched paint on one of the gutters which the owner fixed after finding an exact paint match. I am writing this review several months after the installation, and there have been no leaks or other problems encountered. In all, this was a very good experience."

"Disclaimer: Newman Roofing did not ask me to leave a review or provide any sort of incentive for doing so. I do not often leave reviews, however, I tend to use them often when making decisions on major purchases so I thought this might be helpful for someone else down the road. Newman replaced our roof a few days ago and I could not have been more pleased with the experience. I had four different roofing companies quote my house including some of the larger players in the Columbus area. Every single other company that came out was late to my appointment. Kurt, their estimator, was early to the appointment and I gave him the exact some overview of my needs that I gave to every other vendor. Newman was the only company that actually got up on my roof to confirm the information rather than just accepting I needed my roof replaced. Every other vendor left me a quote only and Newman left me with a packet of information including sample building materials for me to review. They ending up quoting me a couple grand cheaper the other vendors and they were the only ones that didn't give me a line about "supply chain issues" or try and recommend anything beyond exactly what I needed. I ended up going with their top end option because the price was comparable to the other vendors' mid-range quote and the warranties will likely last longer then I will. Needless to say, I signed with them same day and they gave me a date range for installation between June 1st and June 15th depending on the weather. Newman ended up scheduling me for June 15th and arrived exactly at 6:30am as agreed due to the temperatures forecasted to be in the mid-90s. They draped the house with netting to protect the windows and siding from falling debris and their crew even helped lift the netting for us when we needed to take the dog for a walk in the morning. They had a dedicated supervisor, Tyler, on-site for the install and he said he had been working with his crew for 4 years. He had his entire crew come out for the install due to the heat, and from setup to completion they did my entire roof in less than 6 hours! It was unbelievable. The business is family-owned and two of the family members stopped by to check on the progress and their team during the installation. They rolled the yard to clean up and stray nails and I haven't found one to-date. I was concerned about how many sheets of wood I'd have to replace as it added cost to the roof if any bad sheets were found. Luckily, all the sheets for the roof were in great shape and the price the estimator gave me was exactly the price I paid to the penny. There's always a concern during home projects that the vendor is going to "up-charge" you by replacing things that do not actually need replaced. I can honestly say, Newman Roofing is not one of those companies. The roof looks amazing and my next door neighbor wanted their information to handle his repairs going forward based on the results. I can't speak highly enough about this company as their customer service was the best I've seen from any company in a long time. I will be recommending Newman Roofing to everyone going forward!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Newark, OH

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
