"We love outside holiday lights, but we are seniors and donâ t do ladders anymore. Matt provided an estimate which included putting up, taking down, and storing until next year. It also included the lighting materials. Ours were too old. The up/down was done per the schedule provided. The whole process was slick, very professional. What a relief to know that it will be taken care of!"

"Patrick responded quickly to my request for a quote. He was able to schedule my project within my timeframe. He kept in good communication regarding material deliveries and project completion. The end result was amazing holiday lighting for my commercial mall property. The tenants and customers love the added Christmas decor. Would recommend him to other owners for this work."

"Danny and his dad are great, very professional, and extremely polite. Their quality of work is wonderful and they pay close attention to detail. They are always open to special requests or having something done a certain way that the customer prefers it (i.e., pruning trees and/or bushes, etc.) They also remove any and all yard debris and dispose of it as needed. I have referred several people to them and they were very pleased as well. Their prices are competitive and reasonable. I enjoy hiring young entrepreneurs who are making their way in a very competitive market. I definitely would recommend them. "

"We installed new path and tree lighting in the front yard, and around the pond in our backyard. Oregon Outdoor Lighting did an amazing job and they take customer service to a whole new level! Ryan Schulze, Design and Sales Consultant, is the consummate professional. Ryan was extremely knowledgeable and patient. He worked with us to figure out different options to stay within our budget. He made us feel very confident in our decision to choose OOL for our lighting project. Courtney Villanueva, Office & Finance Coordinator, followed up within a day of signing the contract to schedule the job. She called the day before the installation to confirm. The installers showed up on time and worked hard throughout the day to get the job done. They were professional and very friendly. We had an issue with one of our existing lights a couple of days after the installation of the new lights. We called Ryan and he came out right away to take a look and had his crew back within 24 hours to fix the problem. Most companies can learn a thing or two about customer service. Oregon Outdoor Lighting has it figured out! Hands down one of the best buying experiences we've had since moving to the area five years ago."

"I was very pleased with all of my interactions with this company. I gathered 5 estimates from window washing companies from Angie's List. Jason's took the time to come out and look at my house to give me an estimate. Only one other company came out. The others did it by phone. Jason's window washing office staff was very knowledgeable and efficient. Shane arrived exactly on time and got right to work. I was amazed how quiet he was as he worked throughtout the house. Shane was personable, careful, and cheerful. My windows, tracks, and screens look beautiful. My entry light (which is too high for us to clean ourselves) is brilliant and bright again. We are so grateful and will call Jason's again. <br />"

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Newberg, OR

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
