"I am very happy with the results. When they brought out the piece for the tile that goes along the counter they measured it wrong. They had to re-do it because it was too short. They came to install the new cabinets. The technician did not put down padding when he moved the refrigerator. It made a dent in my floor. They reimbursed me $250.00. There were a couple of problems but they were corrected."

"Buddy is the best! We started talking with him about our cabinets before we moved into our new house in June. He came out and did an initial measurement, then came back to take exact specs right after we moved in. In choosing wood, we wanted a dark reddish look, so he experimented with different stains and then showed us two possibilities, one of which we loved. When he came to install the cabinets, he was meticulously careful in his work, which he did by himself. He not only refaced existing cabinets, but he added one cabinet box and a small cookie sheet cabinet where there had been just an ugly open space, cut down one cabinet to make room for an over-the-stove microwave, raised cabinets to accommodate a new floor height, and installed the microwave. When a couple of the cabinet doors seemed to be hitting each other, fixed them?and showed us how to adjust them in the future. That was the morning the countertop came in, so he was onhand with the installers. As mentioned above, the countertop and sink was included in the price for the job.  He also came over the morning when the plumbing was to be done to bring some boards to put under the dishwasher. Then he helped the plumber get the old dishwasher out and put the new one in. Buddy is highly accomplished at what he does, and he's also so relaxed about doing the work that it relaxed us as well. We appreciated that the companies Buddy used for other work are just as professional as he is. We've had kitchens redone before, and it was highly stressful. Not so this time! We have already recommended Buddy to others and would do so again in a heartbeat. <br />"

"Installation was great. No problems since we had them installed, a few years ago. Shelves are much easier to access. We also had Shelf Genie install shelves in our Florida home. Installer noticed that we needed a panel on the end of our kitchen island, and he did that also."

"Excellent service. We were informed of all of the steps, timing, delays due to weather. Very neat--cleaned up at end of each day. Overall very professional job. Before staining, the company did a complete power wash: our soffits haven't looked that good since the house was built! They even did a second run and then clear coated them so it will maintain."

"I found Wes on Angie's list and gave him a very difficult cabinet leveling job and he burned through it like a hot knife through butter. The cabinets formed a 6-foot L shape, and was 1 3/4 inches off level over the worst run...that's a lot. The first thing he did was turn two problems into an advantage... Rather than having the end of the countertop way up in the air and the other run of the L up blocking the bottom of a window, he suggested scribing and cutting the cabinets down (instead of shimming up as normally done), to instead lower the high point which also brought the countertop nicely below the window. Two problems solved by thinking outside of the box; it never would have occurred to me, now would I have been capable of doing it. Wes scribed with a compass and took a skillsaw to the bottom of the cabinets, even the complexly shaped corner cabinet of the L...and dropped the cabinets in and each was within a tenth of a millimeter on his first try...amazing talent. <br /> Just hire Wes, you will be so glad you found him. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in North-westchester, CT

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
