"From the beginning of the move, the movers were helpful and asked which items they would be moving. They unloaded my belongings at the new house without issue until it came time to move the twin mattresses for a king-size adjustable bed. The mattresses were slid along the bottom of the truck, which caused wood splinters to lodge into the mattress covers. Each mover then attempted to carry a mattress by himself using the side handles. These handles are not designed to support the full weight of the mattresses, which are each close to 110 pounds. In the video, you can clearly see the damage occur.. Despite clearly hearing and seeing the mattresses rip, both movers continued handling them in the same manner. Each mattress cost $2,199.95, for a total of nearly $4,400. When I contacted the company to report the damage, I was told I needed to file a claim within a specific timeframe, which I did. I was initially offered either 15% of the total moving bill or the option for the company to take the mattresses to be repaired. The sales representative I originally spoke with stated they would try to find someone to come out and repair them. I explained that I have had both back and neck surgeries and rely on these mattresses and adjustable bases to sleep, making it very difficult for me to be without them. Had the movers stopped after the first tear and used both movers to carry each mattress properly, the damage likely would not have been as severe. Hearing and seeing the mattresses tear and continuing anyway was extremely unprofessional. While I understand that the company sent its terms by email and required me to sign off at the end of the job, I was not given a realistic option to refuse signing especially after the damage had already occurred. Per those terms, if I had not signed, I would have had no right to file a claim at all. I have now been offered $75.45 per company policy for damage that was caused and then worsened even after the movers were clearly aware the mattresses were ripping. This offer is unacceptable given the extent of the damage and the cost of the items."
