"Tim was very easy to work with, very professional and courteous. The workers were on the roof for about 10 hours straight, they worked hard and they worked fast. They did an excellent job. They came back the next day and finished, cleaning everything up. It was an incredible price for excellent work. I highly recommend leading edge restoration for roof replacement."

"The roof job on my home was outstanding!! Santos is a perfectionist! I've never had a job done that went so smoothly and so professional! Santos is knowledgeable in every aspect of roofing, he knows roofs from the inside out. He explained and showed photos of the entire job as it was installed. His crew worked hard to get the job done right the first time. Now, our roof is of the utmost quality work for a reasonable price. Santos is an honest man, my quote never changed! He went above and beyond to make me happy with the work his people performed!! I'm extremely happy and satisfied! I already recommended Santos Martinez Roofing to all my family and friends!! Thank you all for exceeding my expectations!!"

"The installers did a wonderful job. The windows look great, My only complaint was that no one contacted me for two months about my windows. After I called the communication was better. I thought they would be installed in October, but that didn't happen until Dec. 16th. I wasn't planning on this happening in a snow storm in Dec. The reason for the delay given was Covid"

"I worked with Randy (The Owner) on my roof project after having wind damage this past spring. Randy had someone come out that day to tarp my roof to prevent anymore damage. Randy then came out for a free roof inspection and educated me on how to go about filing a claim with my insurance. After about 2 weeks Randy and his crew came out and completed my roof before lunch! Very fast, clean, and efficient crew. Highly recommend Randy and Millennial Construction. Very pleased."

"Kenny came out quickly to give an estimate and to discuss options that gave us different cost and job scope alternatives. In the end we chose a total new roof with a removal of a chimney at the roof line. We also chose to get new gutters. He tied in the existing venting that a plumber had done for the hot water heater/furnace and added a more functional vent at the roof. This allowed us to get rid of leaking issues around the chimney and was an option Kenny put forth. The crew was extremely efficient, replaced any bad roof sheathing, cleaned up daily and communicated any issues. I would definitely recommend them and wouldn’t hesitate hiring Testa Roofing again. They are all about getting it right. Job well done, timely and at a fair cost. I appreciated Kenny giving us alternatives which is what an experienced pro should do."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Orangeville, OH

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
