"Angel and his 8-person crew from Apex Roofing completed re-roofing my 4BR colonial in one day! My roof needed a lot of TLC and Apex provided it: fascia board and plywood replacement where needed, new ridge vents, skylights, and more. They even shingled my cat house at no additional charge! Professional, prompt, great communicators, excellent clean-up, fair price. Very highly recommended!"

"After contacting Above All Roofing I was quickly notified by Cyle. He was very polite, professional and courteous. We agreed on a time that worked best for me and he showed up exactly when he said he would! After inspecting the roof it was determined that the missing flashing from my chimney was most likely the culprit. Within a day or 2 I was emailed a quote to fix the flashing and also a full roof replacement quote. I decided to go with the full roof replacement. Once again I contacted Cyle and he set up an appointment to meet and was once again there when he said he would be. Once the contract was signed a day was set up for installation. The crew that showed up was awesome! Chris, Cyle and the rest of the crew showed up early and did not stop at all! It was a very smooth and seamless process and any additional work that needed to be done was communicated to me. I was extremely impressed with the whole process from beginning to end. Shaun has done a tremendous job with this company and I would recommend anyone looking to have roof repairs to give Above All Roofing a call! A+! Thank you guys the house looks great!"

"We just had our roof replaced by Global Roofing. It was amazing to work with Andrea and Freddy. We couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience! We got several quotes for our roofing job, changed our mind about the material along the way (went from metal to asphalt), and Andrea and Freddy were great throughout the process. Global Roofing had the best recommendations (one of the reasons we chose them), and after working with them we know why! Communication was amazing, if there were any delays due to ordering supplies like the skylights we were immediately informed, and the final scheduling for the project was also easy. I was at work all day while they were actually doing the roof, and other than the new beautiful roof on my house I was not able to tell that any contractors were at my house all!!! They covered the house in tarps while taking the old shingles off, and the entire surrounding area of my house was spotless when they left! And the Final product looks great! A truly great company, and I am looking forward to hire them for future projects!"

"<p>The snow was too high and deep for my roof rake, it was time to have someone remove it. My house is a small rambler with 2 ft overhangs, the snow was very deep, about 2-3 feet in places on the overhangs. I was concerned about the weight in these places. I researched through Angie's List and found Doug's services. I liked the reviews and comments about him. I contacted him that day and he answered his phone right away. I was not an emergency for me, as many others were with ice dams, so we scheduled the removal of the snow for later the next week. His team show up right on time and got the job done! They removed all the snow from my roof without leaving any around my front or side patio, or on the drive way. Everything was clear!</p> <p>Doug quoted me a price and that's what it was, $225.</p> <p>I was very happy with the work done and the professionalism of Doug and his team.</p> <p>I would recommend them!</p> <p>Thank you, Tina</p> <br />"

"As the first snow of the winter of 2015-2016 approaches I cannot tell you how happy I am that I found Loyalty Home Solutions. I was very much impressed with their responsiveness, professionalism, attention to detail and work ethic. Instead of playing phone tag we spoke on the phone regularly, we communicated through emails and text messages, we also did some of the payments electronically (for my convenience while I was out of town traveling). This is so rare in a small Home Improvement company and you really appreciate it if you have been strung along by some other fly-by-night company.  <br /> <br /> My sad tale started in January of last winter. We have a fairly big two story and we had a lot of ice damage. I spent a lot of time on a 30 foot ladder chopping ice and cursing myself for not replacing the 20+ year old roof over the previous summer, as I had planned. While I was up there, I noted that all of the trim boards which face the sun, were in bad shape and also needed to be replaced. We had some leaks around 3 decorative dormers in the front of the house and a lot of damage around the sewer vent pipe over the master bath in the back of the house. We also replaced the gutters and downspouts as well as installed gutter helmets to keep the leaves and pine needles out (I usually have to clear the gutters 3 or 4 times a year but am hoping that is a thing of the past). <br /> <br /> We own the former "Show Home" in our development, as such it was the first one built. I started searching for a roofer in July and we decided to go with a friend of a friend, who was highly recommended. He gave us a good estimate and said he would do the job in September. I started getting really nervous late September when almost all of the other homes in the neighborhood were getting their roofs replaced and our roofer had not started yet, or returned my calls. He strung us along for over 3 months, he never picked up the phone on the first call and we played phone tag for weeks.  Finally, the Monday after Thanksgiving, I left him a message that he was fired. To his credit he called me back and apologized and admitted he was over committed and did not blame me for firing him. <br /> <br /> Earlier I called several roofers and left messages, Laryssa from Loyalty was the first one to call me back, I told her my story and she understood my concern. Romulo was out the next day to walk the property with me and I got a written estimate within a day or two. By the weekend I hired them, turns out they had done some of the other homes in the neighborhood (including the house across the street from us). I did not expect to see them for at least 2-3 weeks but was surprised to hear that they had an opening and could start about a week later. I had my first good night's sleep in weeks. <br /> <br /> They were here about a week, it was a big job and they worked from sunup to sundown and a little past that (with headlamps) to make sure we were sealed up tight each night. As can happen, we had some additional damage to the decking, that we did not know about until the shingles were off, which had to be fixed. On the final day, Sunday morning, I was leaving the house and Romulo was there with one other guy. They had damaged a window screen during the week and were going to fix it but needed to go to the store for more screen material. As I left I asked him if he would fix another screen I had inside the house. I had damaged that screen myself over the previous winter (with my roof rake). When I got home my wife told me that they replaced all the screens not just the ones that were damaged (I never saw an extra bill for that).  <br /> <br /> I feel 100% confident that if we have any issues like last winter, Laryssa and Romulo will be there to first answer the phone and then stand behind their work. I would be happy to recommend them."

"Flynn Roofing did a five star job on our Hingham residence. Stephen was on the job with the crew. Very helpful and professional When I had decisions to make. The job was complicated as structural repairs were needed and a skylight replacement. Not a problem at all. Cleanup was amazing. My yard looked better than before they arrived. Flynn Roofing was timely, efficient, and reasonably priced! Great workers."

"We just had a new roof installed on our home and garage. They were at our home at 7am ready to go and stayed until the project was complete! Eric is very easy to deal with and the foreman Mike was here with the employees all day. They were very friendly and very accommodating to even to the "special" requests I had. They did an outstanding job! When the job was done my yard looked amazing they cleaned up so well, other than seeing my amazing new roof you wouldn't have even known they were here! I highly recommend EAW Roofing."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Oxford, MA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
