"
Randy was uncooperative, argumentative about how the job was to be done. I asked them to put the cleaned up dirt grass and old mulch at my south retaining wall. He had his man put it in the truck, so I brought my John Deere out with a garden wagon and told them to put it in the cart, which they did. Randy kept telling me how he had gotten two "A's" that day.

Randy wants big jobs like tree removal or pruning. Since this job was prepaid, he had me at his advantage. I will never hire him again. They arrived at 10:30 am, but Randy said it was 10:15 after I told him he owed me six man hours. He said if we get all the work done early we should be able to go, right? I had additional work they could have done, but I couldn't tolerate the attitude and hassle regarding how I wanted the job done.

If you want well manicured lawn scaping done to your specifications, you don't want Randy. If you want a big tree cut down in a hurry, Randy might be your man.

I will never purchase any more "bargains" from Angies List. I paid for six hours of labor and barely got four. He left without asking me to review the work. This coming spring I'll have to retrench all the trees except for the one I trenched myself to show him how I wanted it done.

NO MORE RANDY. NO ORE ANGIE.

"

"I contacted Rex Starkey with Elite Lawn and Landscaping about giving me a bid and describing his plan for installing a lawn sprinkler system. He was prompt, personable, and detailed in what he proposed. He told me how they would put it in, how many zones and approximately how many heads would be involved, and how long it would take. He would use a Hunter Sprinkler system and parts (which I understand is of good quality). His bid also included the yearly maintenance required ($140) and a wireless rain sensor. It was reasonable (from what we heard of others), so we accepted. I dreaded having our yard torn up and looking a mess, but knew in the long run, it would be worth it. It took them (three guys) 2 days to completely install the system! Although they had machines for some of it, I watched them expend lots of energy in manual labor. I was impressed and relieved that Rex was one of the three people doing the work. I thought the control box and cords (which were NOT exposed, but covered) in the garage looked very neat and professional. And to my surprise, when they were finished, it was hardly noticeable that we'd even had a system put in! I also appreciated that they put down grass seed to help spur growth in any bare areas. We had friends in the following weekend, and they were shocked that we'd had a system put in a week ago. Rex made sure I knew how to operate the controls for the system, and he preprogrammed the time for each station ( there were 6!). Now before I tell you this next part, you have to know that we have very low water pressure (always have). About four or five days later, he told me he wasn't happy with the way the system performed with the water pressure, and that if he split up two of the stations, he felt we would have better pressure. I did not complain nor ask for this, but I appreciate the fact that even though he was paid, he was willing to try to make a good system work better for us. I appreciated his conscientiousness. They came back out and added two more stations. We can tell a big difference in the water pressure, but would have never known it could improve had he not brought it to our attention. The best part is that we did not have to pay additionally for the two extra stations. He said he wanted to honor his quote!
This is a company of integrity that I would highly recommend! Now just waiting for those hot dry months!
"

",We had received an estimate from another company to do the same thing, except their company preferred slicing and seeding. When they gave us an estimate of $850, we decided to get a second estimate. I found Weed Man on Angie's List. The owner came to evaluate our lawn. He came within a couple of hours of my call inquiring about their services. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the kinds of weeds we had, the type of grass we had, and about how the positioning of our house allowed for a portion of our yard to do better than other parts. We discussed treatment, overseeding, mowing height (for maximum root growth) and watering. He answered all my questions, and then measured my yard for the estimate. He gave me a detailed lawn evaluation sheet describing what I had and a plan for improvement. It included what the first cost would be (to do the aerating/overseeding) and then what it would be each time he came to treat/fertilize. I asked for references, and he drove me by two other yards he took care of, which looked great. I felt really good about this guy and as soon as I saw his estimate was $365, I told him he was hired. He said he had a crew out aerating lawns and if it was ok, they would do my lawn that day, because it was suppose to rain the next day. Everything was done as promised, and now we're waiting to see the results. I can already tell the weeds are dying and we're hoping the seeds are germinating. We shall soon see!
"

"Had to start with Watersmith partially into the season since my last outdoor company couldn't respond in a reasonable amount of time. I needed some sprayer heads added and changed as well as the backflow test done and results forwarded to the city before starting the season. Watersmith has two departments (Irrigation and Lawn) but a single office team that you can reach on the phone, M-F. They will set appointments and relay information to the appropriate team. And also handle billing. Services cost slightly more than my last company I had but having a live person/s in the office during the work week is worth it. On this Labor Day w/e I discovered I was leaking water up through my front lawn and gave them a call and after pressing #2 got an on-call tech who came over within a hour and shut the water off till they reopen the following week. Was very pleased with that response! While I did not signup for the pre-pay plan this year (only 5% discount) they spelled out what the remaining treatments will cost as well as the sprinkler blowout this fall. I also want to see the results before committing long term."
