"The full remodeling of my new house wouldn’t be possible wo Enrique. He built up my deck to backyard, which looks gorgeous with beautiful LED lights with affordable materials. Frontyard porch and side path are converted to fabulous walkway. Most of all, my crawl space has water flooding issue with winter rains, which many contractors said difficult to handle. But Enrique and Team did a great job with water pump and side ground works and i had no issue last winter. I would love to work with him again, definitely."

"John and his assistant arrived on time. They were courteous, freindly, and professional in every way. My sister and 94-year-old mother were delighted with them. Despite not knowing what brand or model doors needed repair - I couldn't find an identification plate - John had all the parts needed on his truck to fix both doors. They spent 2-1/3 hours fixing the sliding glass door and sliding screen door. The repairs were done perfectly. These doors haven't operated this well since they were installed ~25 years ago. Price for the work done was fair and reasonable."

FAQs for wood paneling install or repair projects in Palo Alto, CA

Shiplap isn’t inherently expensive, but it does cost more than basic drywall. Plywood sheets are the cheapest way to get the look, while solid wood boards fall between $2 and $7 per square foot. If price is a concern, install shiplap on one feature wall and finish the rest with drywall. You’ll still get the texture you want without paying for planks on every surface.

Yes, pros often attach shiplap directly to drywall by nailing into studs or using construction adhesive. Still, removing the drywall first creates a flatter, more secure surface—especially if your walls aren’t perfectly plumb. Talk with your carpentry contractor about which route makes sense for your project, budget, and local building codes.

Horizontal boards give rooms a wider, more relaxed feel and nod to classic farmhouse style. Vertical planks draw the eye upward and are perfect when you want ceilings to appear taller. There’s no “better” choice—the best orientation depends on your room’s proportions and the look you’re after. Hold a few boards in place both ways before you commit.
