"My back yard has a steep hill -- no, not the grassy knoll type -- but bedrock and clay. When the house was purchased in '96 everything was ok with the hill. However, age, among other factors, had not been kind to the wood retaining wall--it seemed to be dissolving more each year. Additionally, the steps leading to the deck [built into the hill about half way up] had been poorly constructed and were pusihing up from the ground. Each morning the guys arrived just prior to 8 a.m. to quietly set everything out -- and promptly hit the ground running at 8. The day he was scheduled to come to install he called me to explain he had made a mistake on his estimate and wanted to talk with me first because he said he would not just come to do the work then tell me, this was for $20.00! that impressed me a lot.
