"I contacted Dan Steele, the owner, by e-mail from his website and included pictures of the existing unit along with an explanation of when we were interested in doing. Dan replied by phone in a couple of days and arranged an appointment to come and look at the project. He arrived promptly and spent time explaining what he thought could be reasonable done and made a preliminary sketch of his idea. We liked it and asked for a cost estimate and timing. Within several days he e-mailed me with a more detailed sketch and a cost estimate that was within our budget. We spent the next week exchanging detailed emails tweaking the design until we agreed on the final design. Dan then firmed up the estistmate and timing. We asked that his estimate include removing and disposing of the existing cabinet. He and his associate arrived on the agreed date for installation with several major pieces thay had already pre-fabbed aand painted at their shop. The first thing they did was lay down a large tarp to protect the floor tile and carpeting. They carefully removed the old unit without damaging the paint on the alcove housing it and then built in the new unit. They spent about six hours finishing the project. Their attention to detail was amazing and refreshing to see. The finished cabinet fit like a glove in the alcove and matched the design we had agreed on. It looked like it had come with the house. They completely cleaned up after they were done. <br /> From initial contact to finished installation was a total of 5 weeks. Throughout the process Dan was extremely responsive and professional. <br />"

"We had our kitchen cabinets and all our interior walls painted. John and Cody did a great job and Mike, the owner was courteous and informative about the process. "I wanted to use them specifically, because he has a technique to make white cabinets to make them look like wood and they looked amazing when they were done. And then he also painted some other ones that were white and he just did an expresso color and they turned out amazing.  I loved the work. It looked fantastic.  He got back to me anytime I had any questions. I don't think I had any issues with them at all.  They were very courteous. "

"Wonderful service. Fast to reply to inquiry, excellent workmanship. Price quote among the lowest of multiple quotes I got. The guys were great to work with. I had dry rot and the repair work done was too notch. All bare wood was primed and painted with no mess and attention to quality. I also had the house power washed and now it's the best on the block. This 30 year old house looks brand new. I would highly recommend them and I'm going to have them back to do my interior!"

"They were very punctual and explained everything to us. We had already been through a bad experience with another company and they were very sensitive to that. They pulled some carpet up in the living room and used their fans and dehumidifiers without any problems. They were very careful about pulling up the carpet and did not have to remove any of the carpet padding, unlike the other company we used. They were very thorough. They used their meter up the wlls to see if there was any damage to the walls. When they got done they also had their boss come out to double check everything. They used a plumber and were not satisfied with the diagnosis he gave for the leak so they brought in someone else and then felt lilke it was a more accurate diagnosis. We were really happy with quality of service."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Piedra, CA

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
