"DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I found MD Pro movers through Angi for a long distance move from FL to VA. I was quoted around $1,800 and paid the deposit. Once the movers arrived they claimed I had more volume than they estimated and charged me for and I ended having to pay $1,900 on top of the deposit and said I had to pay the remaining amount (30%) when they deliver my items. I wasn?t allowed to pay with a card and had to have Cashapp and Zelle in order to make payments. They didn?t take all of my items, they increased the price and I was told that I my items would be delivered in 7 days, I would receive a 24 hour notice and a call 1 hour before delivery occurred. My items were set to be delivered 6/7/25 and I received a call that day stating the drivers were in route to Virginia and that in 7 days my belongs should be here. I didn?t get a call on 6/14 so I figured there might be a delay. That?s fine, it?s a big move and it takes time, I?m not too concerned about it. I called that Monday and they said the driver was still in route, but I would again get a call 24 hours before they arrive and 1 hour before they show up. It all sounded good. I sadly had a funeral to go to on 6/21 (just a day trip) and had to make a quick trip to North Carolina. I was called at 8:45 in the morning and was told ?Sorry my drivers weren?t able to provide a 24 hour notice but they will be at your place in 5 hours?. This took me aback because I was told numerous times that I would get a 24 hour notice before anyone arrives. I proceeded to let them know I was out of town for a funeral and would not be back to later that night/the next morning. I found out there were using a different moving company (even though you were supposed to believe that MD Movers would be the one moving your items) and was told I had to contact MD in order to get thing situated. After calling them and getting a VERY rude response from their front desk agent, I was told that my items would not be delivered unless I paid an overnight fee and paid extra fees for the inconvenience. I let them know that I was advised about the 24 hour guarantee that I was provided and after the front lady told me ?I would never say that because we don?t do that?, I was then told by the manager ?Oh, that?s not in the contract, and that?s only complimentary and we don?t need to provide a 24 hours notice?. Luckily I had someone in the area who could be let in, but if not I wouldn?t have been able to do anything and gotten charged a lot more than I was already charged. It?s been very clear through this experience that the company uses bait-and-switch prices, adds surprise fees at the end. They want an untraceable payment method, and have very little communication. They did not disclose to Me that another moving company would be coming to deliver my items (which came with lots of broken boxes and items) and I still have not received itemized inventory, or a bill of lading. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this company. They have lots of bad reviews everywhere and I would definitely not recommend them to anyone."

When I spoke to the representative from Angie s List, it was mentioned that we were moving out of state. I was told that Angie s List could assist with that as well. In response to that conversation, I received a call from Erik with Nationwide Van Lines. He represented himself as an employee of an A-Plus company that has been in business for 25-plus years. I asked Erik to give me a quote for a full-service, out-of-state move. I was very happy with the quoted price and was encouraged by Erik to go forward with a Risk Free Deposit of $1,700.00. At the time, I was only able to pay $500.00. In hindsight, I consider that a blessing! Erik emailed me the moving quote and asked that I electronically sign it at my convenience and send it back. He had already taken payment of $500.00 for a Risk Free deposit. For the record, I never did electronically sign the moving estimate. I decided to call the 800 number that came up with my Google search. They answered as Nationwide Van Lines. I advised them I had an upcoming move and that I would like to work out a few details with them. When the customer service representative couldn t find my info, she advised me that I had been scammed. The real Nationwide Van Lines receives calls almost daily with horror stories of people who have been scammed by the company Nationwide Movers. The representative advised me that Nationwide Movers has been using the reputable name of Nationwide Van Lines to try and get business. They are known for lowballing the estimate to get the business, and then they greatly increase the price and use a third-party mover to complete the work. Sometimes, even holding your stuff hostage. She asked that I file a complaint with the Department of Transportation, which I did. The DOT number is for a company called EZ Moving Group DBA Nationwide Movers."
