"SHORT REVIEW: You couldn't ask for a better painter! 2nd job DS Painting did for us and we couldn't be more pleased! DETAILED REVIEW: Derek painted a room for us 8 years ago when we purchased an Angie's List deal for his company. We were so impressed with his work ethic, personality, and the quality of his work that we kept his name on file. We recently moved into an existing home that needed to be completely painted: ceilings, walls, and trim. We were out of Derek's normal service area but took a chance that he would accept the project since it was a whole house. He accepted...YAY! As expected, he and his coworker, Mike, were AMAZING. Every surface of our home was covered with a drop cloth or plastic (cabinets); every outlet cover and register removed; every doorknob, hinge, and light fixture taped or covered so paint would not get on them. We gave Derek a key to the house and stayed out of his way. We were so pleased with the progress. We found out that Derek does tile work, so we asked him to also add a tile backsplash in our kitchen. That turned out great as well. The only evidence that they were even there was the BEAUTIFUL paint and backsplash: They cleaned everything up and even vacuumed the floors before they left. I will be saving up and trying to get enough work together to convince Derek to come out to us one more time for bathroom tile and anything else that he does. Honestly the best contractor (painting or otherwise) that I have had the pleasure of working with. Thank you, Derek and Mike!"

"I cannot put into words how pleasant my experience was with John and Anna. As long as I am living in this home there will never be another contractor to complete work in my home. It was the single best experience I ever had hiring a contractor since living in PA. 1) Cleanliness- if not for his tools and equipment, you would never know he that John was there. He is EXTREMELY organized and neat, and very meticulous about how he cleans after himself. 2) Reliability- So many contractors either show up when they feel like it or treats your job like it’s not a priority because of other commitments. John was at our home like clockwork, on time everyday, and did not leave until the work was completed. We never had to worry about if he was coming, or, if he would work for 2 or 3 hours and then go home. He worked hard, communicated, and stayed engaged until the job was complete. 3) Technical Competency- When my wife and I bought our home in 2016, our children were 4 and 5 years of age. They absolutely destroyed our walls with fingerprints, dirt, grease, holes, and we also had settling cracks in the ceilings and walls. By the time John got finished with them our home looked brand new! The walls looked perfect and we instantly went from ashy to classy! What started out as a 1900 dollar project almost doubled because he was so good that we decided to let him do almost everything that needed to be done. John has a natural talent!! 4) Professionalism- John and Anna were so polite, patient and always respectful of our home and our concerns. John took personal pride in the work he was doing as if it was his home and if he didn’t like something, he did it again. If all else fails, I typed this whole review up from my iPhone lol!!!! That is how impressed my wife and I were with their work. I take comfort in knowing that we have found a contractor that has set the bar as far as expectations when hiring a professional!"

"Miguel Amaya is not only an honest, fair and hard working person but he has integrity that is truly rare (and uplifting) in this day and age. I live in Westfield, NJ and had him redo my front walkway. Miguel went out of his way to make sure that I was satisfied with the finished product. He was forced to return because I was sold defective SEK Polysweep product by an unscrupulous vendor. Mr. Amaya redid the work by replacing the SEK product with the much better Gator Maxx polymeric sand. if you need hardscaping work done, hire Miguel Amaya, a decent, hard working, honest professional. STAY AWAY from Empire Building Supplies (see my review on them) and SEK Polysweep -- the product is garbage and the people who make/sell it know nothing about being good people who TRUTHFULLY care about fairness and/or their customer. Mr. Amaya would not accept my paying him a second time although he was forced do the job twice through no fault of his own. It was so unjust ** and yet so telling of the type of decent human being that Miguel Amaya is. Unlike the others I dealt with (at Empire and SEK), he was more interested in doing the right thing by me than he was about money. How rare. I was lucky to find such a good person and worker. I highly recommend him."

"Gilbert promptly responded to request for estimate. Made appt. to give estimate. Was prompt with estimate. Walls in our rental room were left with many marks and needed a new coat of paint. Leftover paint color was matched exactly with a good quality paint. New coat of paint looks great. Well blended on walls, lines straight. Look forward to having another painting job done. Gilbert is polite, great sense of humor and gets down to work right away. He went out of his way to fit us in knowing we had to get this room finished quickly."
