"Dana and Mickey arrived on time; came in first to discuss what was to be done and took time to get to know my little dogs. We chatted for a few minutes getting to know one another. I had met Dana a few weeks ago when her husband Chris, Brooks Handyman Service, came here to do some things for me around the house. <br /> We discuss having her come do cleaning. <br /> So today it was nice having someone I had met and liked, who made a great first impression on previous visit. <br /> They started right away, 10am, with basic cleaning, starting at back of house working their way out, so as not to track back over where they had worked. They said they would be here 2hrs or so. I had to leave and felt most comfortable leaving them in my home and with dogs. <br /> I returned around 1:30 and they were still here. I had know that the house needed a good cleaning but I figured since I had had another company in to clean 2 weeks ago, things wouldn't be but so bad, dusting, vac, mopping etc. However, Dana informed me that the more they cleaned the more they found area's that had not even been touched by the previous cleaners; it bothered her so bad that she took pictures to show me and she decided that they would stay longer to get things cleaned as they should be. She said she felt bad for me, that I had paid someone else to clean and what she found not done upset her and she wanted to make it right for me. I ask her if I owed her more money, I had paid her $110; she said no, she just felt that it needed to be done ( I had paid the preview company $199 on a special deal and they sent 3 girls, who only stayed less than hour and half. <br /> Well, Dana and Mickey finally left at 2:30. That was a full 4 hours of cleaning and the house is glowing. Smells so good, I love the smell of a house after a cleaning. There is a speck of dust, floors cleaned, whole house looks so good. <br /> I would highly recommend Brooks Maid Service!!!! If you are looking for someone who will give your home the personal touch; this is the one to call. <br /> I can't express how happy I am with the service they provided; i have hired them to clean on a regular schedule of every 2 weeks. Also, next time they come I will be putting alittle extra money in the pay envelope for the outstanding job they did today; above and beyond!!!!! <br /> Thank you Dana and Micky for your excellent service and personal attention to detail. Thank you for bringing to my attention the issues missed by previous company. i appreciate that so much, as I hate to be taken advantage of. <br /> I needed someone to do the work for me due to fact that I can no longer do due to my back and leg problems. I have found the right person. <br /> I look forward to working with you in the future. <br /> Thank You, <br /> Deborah Morgan <br /> <br />"

"He drew it and took pics of himself doing it otherwise we wouldn't believe even drew it. It looks like a photograph. We've never seen anything like it. He's amazing. He has also hand drawn pictures of my wedding and of my grand father for his funeral service."

"We hired JD events for the event decoration of our lill one's first birthday party. I can for sure say, they are the best in town. Right from the first meeting of consultation to the last day of execution, she and her team were professional, patient and so much accommodating. We were so happy with the final execution on the day, as they delivered what they promised. I have no second thoughts in recommending JD for your events. Thanks again Jeania for all your efforts."

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Prince George, VA

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
