"After years of working with various contractors on major home improvements, we finally found our dream team with Duane Mainardi Builders! From the moment we reached out, Duane and his crew impressed us with their honesty and clear communication. Duane was always available throughout the project, and Keith, the site foreman, was simply incredible. He was onsite every step of the way and made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. When we asked for changes after work had started, they welcomed every request with a genuine commitment to getting it just right. The siding crew was professional, skilled, and worked tirelessly. What we anticipated to be a four day job was impressively completed in just two and a half days. The final result? Gorgeous vinyl siding that has completely transformed our home?s look. We wholeheartedly recommend Duane Mainardi Builders if you want high quality siding done right by a team that truly stands behind their work. Michael and Vicki Sneed"

"Trenton Roofing is simply an amazing company from start to finish. 1.5 years ago I did a roofing project with them and Brian the technical sales rep did not do the typical U.S. sales approach by sitting together and putting pressure on you to make an immediate decision. He even did his measurements while I was absent and just sent me over a quote which I directly accepted and the work was again done while I was on vacation. Totally great job and everything was handled with car. At that time I also asked for an estimate for new gutters but I wanted to have them replaced AFTER the solar panels have been installed again and this year I wanted to get it done.I used the old quote, placed the order, got confirmed but - and now the best - within the 72 hours cancellation period I decided different and I just met Brian without any hard feeling from his side we cancelled the job and my down payment was immediately reimbursed! What an outstanding attitude! For my siding project the bid is your!"

"My house is 20 years old. We recently had a torrential rainstorm. Sitting in my 2nd floor office, rain began leaking through the ceiling. I looked for a roofing company with a good reputation and called Wagner Roofing in Flemington, NJ. They were quick to respond and sent Mark out who climbed up on top of my roof and detected leaks in flashing around the vent pipes. He caulked all of them and even cleaned out my dryer vent. He gave me an estimate on a new roof but that was it. “No charge for today,” said Mark. He never tried to sell us anything or scare us. His honesty and integrity were so refreshing that I was a little shell shocked initially, and so impressed I decided to go for a new roof anyway. The quote was right on the money, as well! They were about a month out but they arrived this week with a crew of 8. So organized! I have a pretty big roof with a few gables, but they got the entire job done from 7 am to 5:45 pm, working the cleanup in the dark. Foreman, Lito, was very helpful and made sure I was happy every step of the way. In my opinion, this is a company that should be patronized for your roofing needs!"

"A neighbor referred me to John and even though I had a smaller roof to replace, I felt like John personally made sure my project got done right from the beginning. They are detail oriented, organized and very responsive communicating. The crew were fast and professional, and John did a final clean up of the house himself after the new roof and gutters were installed. That kind of caring about your work and professionalism is very refreshing. And their prices are very good too!"

"Russell sold me a warranty for an entire roof repair done in 2014. The roof cost $25,000. 8 years later I have shingles falling off the roof. I called them to fix the roof. They told me that this is not under warranty, so they would "do me a favor" and fix the roof as long as I would put up a sign in my lawn for an extended period of time to advertise their company or else they would charge me - maybe $500 or more. Then they did not show up to do the work, so I ended up hiring another company."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Princeton Junction, NJ

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
