"Work was done quickly, they even showed up a day early. Roof was replaced in one day. Brick cracks repaired and sealed. Old gutters replaced with new slim version. All rubbish removed. They were very helpful and professional and returned my calls with no problem."

"These guys can do a quality job fast. It took them 2 days to remove 6 layers of roofing material (the original 80 year old asphalt must have been there) and install the new roof. They cleaned up after themselves and took all of the garbage away on day one."

"I contacted Roof Renew Pros after receiving a flier in the mail. I called and spoke to Barb who did a great job of explaining their unique process which is a wash and rinse method that does not use chlorine or any other harsh chemical products; nor is any high pressure washing done. She came and inspected the house and garage and provided a detailed description of what was found and a quote . I decided to have the roof and siding cleaned on both the house and the garage. The job result was fantastic! One person commented "Your siding looks new!". Barb was extremely helpful during the whole process and the crew was great---no mess or damage to plants at all! I highly recommend Roof Renew Pros."

"After 23 years of various contractors and "solutions" we finally have a roof that sailed through the greatest rain storm NYC has ever seen. Fred and his crew are amazing. Weeks ago they came - diagnosed the problems and gave us a new full membrane surface with a guarantee. While other neighbors had issues - we did not have a drop or a leak anywhere. I can't praise them enough for their timeliness, courtesy, professionalism and efficiency. Thank you Fred and your crew ! Absolutely happiness on this end !!"

"Several years ago my husband and I discovered Progress through Angie's List. Ivan and Roman completed several jobs within our home (custom shelving, TV mounting, drywall ,painting etc...). Recently we were interested in remodeling the exterior wall of our home to include a brick surface. We consulted several professional bricklayers and masonry experts to perform the work. We experienced unrealistic estimates, no collaboration for design ideas and unreliable references. We remembered Progress and our great experience with him in the past and contacted them. Honestly, we were not very hopeful that they would be able to do the work as I always consider brickwork to be specialized. Within an hour of reaching out to Roman and Ivan, they responded with photos of Brick work they had recently completed. I was able to send them rough measurements for an estimate and they quickly replied. Bottom line, these guys are amazing!. I will describe our experience in a list form; 1. Pricing for materials and labor was fair and accurate. 2. Progress has very high standards and they take great pride in their work, with wonder results. 3 setup and cleanup is done without disrupting your household. 4. Excellent time management. They stick to their schedule, and work is completed when promised. 5. Receipts have been provided for all materials purchased. 6 very professional friendly and approachable. 7 collaboration for design ideas that worked with our budget . 8 No hesitation to call them FIRST, THE next time we need work to be done in our home. P.S. during our project we decided to add a cement element. Progress suggested we extend the work by a few feet to prevent leaks. This was honest advice as we have been told the same thing by other construction professionals in the past. They offered advice for the sole purpose of saving us the heartache of future damage. Don't waste time planning home repairs or modifications with another company. Go straight to Progress! Very satisfied customers, The Sammon Family Maspeth New York"

"Once the job started in August, his workers arrived early each morning and worked hard all day. They were also responsive and professional in addressing our questions and concerns. During the week-long job, Vinny came to the house each day to show us pictures of the work in progress and to address any questions that arose. Upon our request, the workers even installed shingles on a Christmas stable we have in our garden! When the work was completed, the workers cleaned up and disposed of the related debris. We are happy with the results. It has rained hard a few times since the new roof was installed and my mother reports she no longer smells wet wood when it rains! We would recommend McLeod Brothers to a friend."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Queens, NY

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
