"Crowe has expanded into a general contractor business. I needed a "one stop shop" for all our needs to prepare our home for sale. The work in the basement was quite extensive as the entire ceiling needed to be replaced after a leak in the 30' main kitchen drain line. Patching was not an option as the hole was quite large and the ceiling was popcorn. They also installed additional can lights while the ceiling was open. They suggested and I approved the installation of crown molding, which makes the room look 'done'. Chris (owner) was very reasonable on pricing and I could not speak higher of his lead man, Brandon. The other gentlemen on the crew were also professional, courteous and easy to get along with. <br /> After the ceiling was finished, I called them back for a second job to help get other areas of the house ready that I could not handle alone. This included painting the rest of a very tall interior stairwell, all kitchen and bathroom cabinets (this required extensive sanding and 7 coats of paint), painting of the deck and the roof soffits. Again, all of the crew were professional, courteous and easy to get along with and the price was right. <br /> After the house sold and the home inspection revealed repairs, I returned to Crowe. This time, the tub stopper, door jamb, gutters and stair post needed repair. <br /> The fact that they are a 'one stop shop' saved me the frustration of dealing with the scheduling and payment of multiple contractors. I spent about $5500 for all of the work, not including the paint. I suspect I would have paid 2-3 times that for individual contractors. I highly recommend them.  <br />"

"Aspen had replaced my roof two years previously.  They charged for many improvements which they did not do.  Some of those were important and should have been done--especially the flashing around the skylights and the chimney.  Mr. Williamson saw to it that the shingles they would need to replace the ones that had to be torn out would match what I had.  That meant having to get the same brand and color.  They took care of most of the roof work in one morning.  Building the cricket and installing the flashing took time.  When he came back to work on the interior he finished the roof work by painting the flashing so it would match the roof.  They also had replaced a boot for the gas vent, which should have been done with the new roof.   <br /> It took Paul 4 days to take care of the interior damage.  But the bathroom looks so good now that nobody could tell there had been a problem.  The ceiling and two walls needed sanding, replastering, and painting.  It looks terrific!  He did it in such a neat, tidy way that I am totally pleased.  Furthermore, the interior work was done in such a way that there was little disruption to the family.  He managed to complete it all before Easter.  That is, nearly complete it all.  He will come back in a few days to apply a second coat.  But this has not been a problem.  He used a fan to help dry out the walls, the fresh plaster, and the paint.  He came when he said he would, did not leave me hanging and wondering when he would return.  He was always polite, considerate, neat, and professional.  <br /> I am so sorry that I did not know about Abracadabra Restoration Solutions before I had gotten my roof replaced!!  I highly recommend this company to anyone who needs a roof replaced or damages repaired!!!"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Radford, VA

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
