"J and J gardening are some of the best landscapers I have ever worked with. Communicative, fair pricing, timeliness, professionalism, they have it all. Our backyard was the second coming of the Amazon Rainforest, and within 2 hours Jesus and his crew cleaned up our yard, and left me speechless by the transformation. If you need a grass man book this man #mygrassman #hirejandj. "

"<strong>He removed the grass and made sure the surface was completely flat and solid before placing the tiles with the appropriate amount of sand for stability.  In addition he had to redo a brick border against my deck and rearrange my sprinklers.<br /> Martin has done many jobs for me over the past 10 years like  reinforcing my fence with new posts,  replace planting beds, and most recently replaced 300 feet of grass with medium cobblestones in my front yard thus eliminating the sprinklers. In addition, his team takes care of my lawns on a weekly basis.</strong> <br />"

"I called Elmer (the owner) to see whether they could remove a very large limb that cracked off our tree early one morning and was in danger of falling into a neighbor's yard. He came out right away and had 2 guys here that same day. They secured the limb overnight and we decided we should have the tree taken down because it was about 50-60 years old.  A crew of about 6 guys came out the next day and started working on the tree. They worked very hard and did a great job, cleaning up after themselves every evening. The job took about 3.5 days in all (Christmas intervened!) and we are very pleased with the work they did. <br /> I have no hesitation in recommending this company.  The estimate for the job was lower than that given by another company and we will definitely use them again for the other trees we have in our yard.  Elmer supervised the job, and was always available if we had any questions or concerns.  They deserve their "A" rating! <br />"

"Not well, the guy was not listening to what we wanted and kept trying to propose solutions that were far too elaborate. He also kept referring to plants he was proposing to use by their botanical names rather than the common name, as neither my wife nor I are professional gardeners we had no idea what he was talking about most of the time, which was very frustrating. He seemed to be more concerned with how our yard would affect the reputation of his company in the area than what we, the customer, actually wanted, which was something simple and easy to maintain. <br />"

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Redwood-estates, CA

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
