"This is the 2nd time I've used Perfection Painting and when I needed my main floor painted, Paul and his team were the first ones I called. Ali and Tony did a great job painting my main floor, 2 stairways and hallway. They were always communicating on what they would be working on that day and did a nice job of making sure they cleaned up each area. I am very pleased with how everything turned out and would definitely use them again for my future painting needs!"

"Jim recently painted a custom built-in entertainment center in our home. The project was in our finished basement and Jim went above and beyond to protect our home when setting up his paint area. He was responsive, punctual, and completed on schedule. He is an excellent painter, detail oriented, and holds himself to an incredibly high standard. Highly recommend!"

"<p>It went exceptionally well --- </p> <p>The owner started by taking me around the Sherman Hill area of Des Moines, showing me homes he had previously done (35+ homes), showing me paint colors/combinations he thought would look good on my house.  After I signed on with him, he was at my house every day with his staff working along side them.  He was also readily available by phone, returning my call within 1-2 hours if not available when I called.  They were there on time each day, worked long hours with quality staff -- and the same staff, which is a plus!</p> <p>They were very careful about the plants/items around my home.  Top quality prep work (spent needed time prepping prior to painting) taping windows prior to painting, even taped down tarps on my solarium roof and porch roof prior to painting the siding.  Intricately painted around my windows to get the effect I was looking for.  Went the extra mile and measured for new windows and a door that I wanted to install prior to painting and repaired a side door I didn't even know was rotted.  They were very aware of picking up at the end of each day.  </p> <p>I can't say enough about how good they were and what a positive experience this was ---- I am very pleased, and when the job was done, except for the beautiful new house I had, you wouldn't have even known they were there.  I definitely highly recommend them to all and will be using them in the future for other jobs around my home.  The company is top notch, and they are definitely all about the restoration of a home, not just the painting of it.  </p> <br />"

"Brian, the owner, was very knowledgeable and professional. His crew was always on time, professional, patient about answering my many questions, and worked hard to do a great job.   Brian was onsite daily to see how the job was going and to see if I had any questions. My home was built in 1930.  It was important to have CR Painting, also, because they are are lead-paint certified.  The job was not easy.  There was a lot of glazing needed on the windows and there were heavy storm-windows that had to be taken off and put back on.   I am very pleased with the job they did.  My house looks great!  I would not hesitate to hire CR Painting again.  <br /> <br />"

"Power-washed and sprayed fence using precise paint gun. EXCELLENT JOB. Minimal to zero overspray/waste, excellent coverage and quality. Showed up when promised, worked around weather issues, completed within 5 days. Very satisfied and would/will absolutely call him again. Now (05/08/10), after a winter of very severe snow/rain, where snow built up around fence 3 feet deep for months, fence still looks like it was just painted yesterday. Good quality paint, good quality application."

"Jeremy and Jonah once again did an excellent job for us. This time it was a remodel job to replace a ceiling and light fixtures in our basement family room. The ceiling had the old popcorn ceiling texture and we've wanted it replaced for a long time but put off because of the mess we expected to take it down. Jeremy came out and gave us suggestions, quote, etc. that it could be done by putting new drywall over it instead of taking it down. They put up new drywall and were very particular to get the mud, sanding and finish just right. You cannot see any seams in the entire almost 400 square feet. They extended duct work as needed for better vent placement and the family room is so much warmer now. Jeremy and wife Jennifer worked with us during the time after work was scheduled and before it started to advise on light fixtures to put in and Jennifer even located them for us locally to purchase. Jeremy even suggested an improvement related to the stair edging. He provided and stained a piece of wood to match the existing trim along the stair risers and now the new ceiling edge piece is so much nicer now and blends in with the other trim. When this new edge piece didn't take the original stain very well and had an unfinished edge, they came back out to correct it at no charge as part of their guarantee/warranty work. I would highly recommend The Handy Guy."

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Rhodes, IA

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
