"We are so pleased with the high quality of the custom cabinets - excellent workmanship and beauty. Makes us happy to be in the space each time we are there. Those who installed the cabinets on 1/25/17 worked diligently and capably, were punctual and courteous throughout the day. They where very careful to use protective coverings so no marring of walls or floors. Really wonderful experience to work with the staff. Highly recommend this company to anyone looking to enhance their living space. Anticipate long term enjoyment of the efforts of these master craftmen at Kendall Woodworks. Thank you, Joel, Wyatt and Thomas from very satisfied customers! Jane and Jim Scullin"

"From my first call to the end of the project Jon was fantastic! He answered all my questions about his process. One concern he had was the health of my pets. He made sure I knew that the smell would be bad for them when applying the finish so I could put them in another part of the house. He was a perfectionist, AND he finished the job in a week. I knew my cabinets were nice cherrywood, but they had looked so bad until Jon transformed them! I will also add before and after pics below."

"Shaun of Twin Cities Shelves was great to work with. I had moved into a newer home and wanted the ease of having pull-out shelving in my food pantry, corner lazy-susan cabinet (which was basically unusable) and a couple of lower shelves for pots and pans and plastic storage containers. He was prompt, reliable and significantly less expensive than another local competitor. The shelves are beautiful and I loved his work so much a few months later I decided to have him install one more set of 2 shelves in my dining room area where I stored serving pieces. Having pull-out shelves makes sure you can access and see everything that you have and need. The pantry especially allows me to make sure that I can see what food I have and organize it so that is doesn't spoil or go to waste."

"We contacted Darin in late August, and he was working on another job so he didn't get back to meet with us until  September.  From the day we met and discussed the project until its completion, he returned all phone calls immediately, and we were able to rely completely on his word as far as a start date and completion.  I have worked with so many contractors that tell you they will be there one day and it gets postponed again and again, or start on your job, and work on others at the same time, coming and going.  This was not the case. <br /> <br /> Darin said it would take approximately a week to do the installation.  He was there the day he said he would, and had all the cabinets made and ready to go to complete it.  It did take one extra day, but that was due to some hardware issues that were not his fault. <br /> <br /> When we first met, we were thinking of white painted cabinets, and he was amenable to doing.  However, he did have some thoughts, based on the style of our house and the existing cabinets.  He showed us the bamboo, and I loved it, but then wasn't sure up until the installation.  Now, I cannot say enough how beautiful it turned out.  I really liked the fact that he was willing to give his professional opinion in a number of areas as we worked through the kitchen refacing.  He was not forceful but was willing to say why another approach might be better.  This was extremely helpful. <br /> <br /> One of the days he was there, I had to work when the new refrigerator was delivered.  He assisted the delivery guys in getting it up the stairs, and took time to take some of the stickers off and even polished it up some so it would look good when I arrived.  <br /> <br /> I can't say enough about what a standup guy he is and you would be very happy if he assisted in your kitchen project!  You can also tell he has integrity which reflects on the whole project.  I would give it an A+. <br />"

"The persone we dealt with did not communciate with us and the contrractor they put us in contact with to do the install and rest of the remodel. We choose a different contractor largerly because of this. We provided data on changes to the design in an E-mail, that she didn't open, and denied receiving when we came in to talk to her. We looked over her shoulder and helped her find the E-mail in her in box. We had previously worked with this company on doing cabinet refacing and had wonderful experience but we worked with another person in that case."

"We love our kitchen! The cabinets have held up very well - we had the work done more than four years ago and the cabinets still look and function like new. The Omega Brand cabinets are very well made - they have soft close drawers, doors, and pullouts. They helped me design the layout and had a mock-up of what the finished kitchen would look like. The pricing was a little higher than other estimates, but the quality of cabinetry was also higher. It was well worth the money! The craftsman who installed the cabinets did a wonderful job and was very professional. I highly recommend Cabinetpak Kitchens!"

"Joel is great! I would highly recommend him. From start to finish, he was very responsive (I think he came out the same day I requested a quote to see the project), professional, and a did an amazing job. He took his time to listen to everything we really needed, offered suggestions without being pushy at all, and completed the project on a tight timeline. I think he went above and beyond what was expected by him, for example we bought all new appliances and Joel installed them for us without charge. We couldn't be more pleased with hoow things turned out, they look like brand new cabinets! I would definately recommend him, he's hard working and trustworthy. By the end of the project I just left the door open for him to let himself in. He cleaned up after each day's end keeping the kitchen totally functioning during the short remodel time. If you're in the market for cabinet refacing, you should have him out for a quote to compare, I think you'll find his rates are very reasonable."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Richmond, MN

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
